We found this house very interesting it has a lot of history, the site was chosen by Queen Victoria on her visit to Ireland in 1861. The House was burnt twice 1879 and after its completion, and again in August 1913. Fast forward house and surrounding land reverted to the Irish State. Having been empty for several years, the building fell into some disrepair in July, 2011 Leo Varaker, Tourism & Sport then announced a €7 million restoration of the manor, House was opened to the public on 3rd April, 2016. Well worth a visit.

Amazing experience . It’s a free museum , they show the places you need to visit in Killarney and the old things they preserve . Absolutely a good experience and must go. Aside from that you will enjoy the park experience in the middle of the town. Kids and adult can enjoy.

I have been to Killarney several times and never knew this place existed until a few weeks ago. Very centrally located in the town, entry was free. Beautiful walkways with the option to take shorter walks if the longer route doesn’t suit. Nice little cafe although we didn’t use it. Beautiful flowers and trees and lovely to see cattle and deer in a natural environment. The weather was fabulous fhe day we went so the views were fantastic. Bikes are a bit of a nuisance on the walkways passing by every few minutes and expecting walkers to move out of the way just because they ring their bell. The House and Toilets were closed due to Covid Restrictions - again a shame.

i visited this house and gardens in august 2023. this museum is wonderful if you’re looking for a free day out. it was brilliant. the ladies at the reception were extremely helpful and very pleasant. the museum itself was fantastic, very informative. i learned a lot about the local wildlife in Killarney and there was lots of information about the scenery including the lakes, the forests and the mountains. although it was a rainy day, the wonderful house and gardens made up for it. the flowers were absolutely beautiful and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a wild deer like i did! the house and museum itself is in a central area, just a 10 minute walk from the train station. i will definitely be visiting again.

Killarney House and Gardens could easily be missed which would be a shame because they are stunning. The views to the mountains are stunning and the peace and quiet are incredible in the middle of this very busy town. The exhibition in the house and visitor centre is excellent and innovative. It is amazing that this is all free.
The only gripe is that there is no cafe, which would have been a great break during a very warm day.

One of the best museum/exhibits I've been to in many many years. The whole area is gorgeous and Killarney House gives you a beautifully presented history of it; with a focus on the environmental priorities and the people whose life mission it is to keep it as fabulous as it is.
I just wish I could've bought a book to bring back and read it all at a slower pace.
I will need to return. Maybe alone, so I can take my time!

Enjoyed my visit with my classmates in November 2019. We had a very entertaining and very informative tour guide. it showed the wonders of Killarney off in all its glory, from the early ages, right through to present day. Well worth a visit for visitor and local alike.

The Killarney house has an excellent reception area and exhibit of the history of the park. The gardens are excellent and in my opinion better than Muckross house gardens. The whole thing is refreshingly free and used by the public. Excellent area. I really enjoyed it and it’s an easy walk from the downtown core. If I was a local I would gladly use this area regularly.

What a place of beauty and tranquility these gardens are, just in the town but you notice the noise of traffic subside immediately upon entering. The planting is wonderful and you can take your time just admiring the views or the foliage. Ideal for walkers and joggers, those wanting to have a stroll and a chat. Ideal! Car parking available just across the road too and the lovely statue of Monsignor O'Flaherty just outside.

Large very nicely kept gardens which are perfect for either a long or a short walk. The house itself is very interesting and has lots of pictures and audio information available and lots of explanations of historical interest. we dropped in for 15 minutes and stayed several hours. Don't miss it!
