We enjoyed our tour (the only way to see the interior is in groups of 10 every 45 minutes). The guide was one of the best we have encountered at a heritage site, leaving nothing to ponder later. The parking and lakeside setting is hard...More

A restored castle from the 16th of the o Donoghue Ring clan. Guided tour only for €5. Guide was very informative. Be careful on the spiral staircase, it's very narrow and could present difficulty for people less mobile.

It was a cold and rainy day but we enjoyed our horse trap ride from the hotel to Ross Castle where we took a boat ride on the lake. Easy walking area with nicely paved path and pretty grounds

Fantastic spot to sit and relax and watch the ducks, the boats and the sound of the water! Catch a boat to Dinish cottage and return or take your bike and cycle through the gap of dunloe and back again to Ross!

This looked amazing but we just missed the hourly tour. You can only go in by guided tour but got to see the exhibition area and the guy on duty was super friendly.

Ross Castle is beautiful!! We walked around the grounds and took so many photos. It was very peaceful. Even though others were there we all had a chance to just take in the beauty!! It wasn't too far to drive either.

This is a tower castle, so not a large castle, but very interesting the way it was built and why. It has been restored as close to original specification, so well worth a look

The castle and history was interesting but there isn't a lot there to spend much time. It's worth it if it's a part of other activities on your tour.

I knew the grandkids would love the jaunting car ride so we took a tour through the park to Ross Castle. The park ride was gorgeous scenery. The driver let the girls sit up front in the drivers seat with him, which was so much...More

Hello, My family is going to visit Ireland in June. Ross Castle is on our list. Should I visit it with a tour that goes to many places the same day, or should I visit the castle by itself so I can spend more time there? Thanks for your help! Beau Roberts

I would say it's worth a couple of hours including the 40-minute tour. Make sure you know the tour schedule, because you can't get into the castle except on the guided tour, which is very infomative.
