So you can only walk around this castle, we couldn't go in, however, it was cool to see and an easy walk, not too much uphill walking at all. I enjoyed seeing the castle.

Beautiful place to visit! Nice and cared into a stunning natural park in front os a lake where 100's of ducks stay resting. Very friendly. The jaunting carts are amazing. Very friendly people.

We came to Ross Castle for the last tour of the day, and it was fairly short and sweet. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and it was fascinating to see how miserable medieval lives were. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures inside the tower...More

We enjoyed our time at Ross Castle. It is included in the Heritage card that we had purchased. We checked in and signed up for a tour which is the only way to see the inside of the castle. While waiting for our tour time...More

Wouldn't be on the top of my list of recommendations for the ring of Kerry. Not much to see here, small coffee shop.

Tour is well worth it. Very knowledgeable guide. You learn about the history of the castle. The grounds around the castle are also enjoyable.

Ross Castle built in the late 15thcentury. They say the castle was the stronghold of an Irish Chieftain during the middle ages. You can get there by horse drawn carriage or boat or walk (will take you about 1 hr each way)

Only available by guided tour. Get there early or pre book. Very knowledgeable guide with good sense of humour. It is great to see a castle without modern trappings. Don't miss this one it's great.

We really enjoyed our visit to Ross Castle and especially the 45-minute guided tour. The only way to see the inside is via the tour, so plan ahead as space is limited to about 15 people per group. Our guide was very knowledgeable (and funny)!...More

The Ross Castle B&B is in Oldcastle County Meath and not the one in Killarney. There is a disclaimer in their website.

There are a few in and around the castle, but to be honest it's so busy and crowed, it's not the sort of place I would stop for a picnic. Too noisy.
