This is a very well kept castle and brilliantly restored. The staff are very friendly to children and adults alike and extremely knowledgable.

We visited the castle in the evening after closing time. The castle looks quite interesting but it is probably not a must to visit the interior of the castle. There are some good photographic spots with the castle and the lake in the sunset.

A group of friends and I took a carriage to the castle and walked around the grounds. Great place for walking, picnicking and exploring!

Nestled in the back of Killarney National Park, Ross Castle is more than just a pile of ruins. Tours available but one can walk around and up to the top which is a great picture taking spot by the cannons.

I stayed in Killarney for three nights and spent one hour in the park everyday. It is tranquil to watch sunset by the lake and Ross castle for as long as you want.

Cycled down from Killarney centre. Easy going for everyone. Lovely time. Had a picnic although few tables to sit on. Picnic blanket recommended. Beautiful scenery.

This provides a nice area to take photos at Lough Leane and see a small castle ruin as well as board boats for tours.

Walked to Ross Castle from Killarney along the National Park walkways. Beautifully kept, the park is fascinating with broad rolling fields and lush meadows surrounded by massive trees and woodlands. Here and there you see the Red Deer. Foxgloves seem to grow wild there and...More

I wish there were more information at the Ross Castle, but there is only one small sign to read on the exterior. We did not go in the castle as it was too late in the day. You can take out canoes on the lake...More

There are a few in and around the castle, but to be honest it's so busy and crowed, it's not the sort of place I would stop for a picnic. Too noisy.

The car park was quite large and free so you shouldn't have any problems.
