From our experience this was one of the better reconstructed medieval castles in southern Ireland. It is well worth the entrance fee to take the guided tour. I'm a historian and I learned lots of interesting tidbits.

We just saw the grounds and the views and the small museum but didn't pay to go through. Very nice scenery and a great place to take photos.

We were really impressed with the sheer size of this castle and its location by the lake. Lovely walks and the chance to take some fabulous photos too!

Very cool stop on the Ring. Great history. Tour has lots of interesting history of Ireland and the tower homes. Gives you an incredible sense for historical living conditions. Staircase is quite steep though, so make sure you are comfortable with a narrow windy climb...More

Very interesting tour of the Tower House. Our guide was excellent, v knowledgable and made the 45 min tour entertaining for the children. Would highly recommend. A snapshot of everyday life in medieval Ireland.

We went to Ross Castle via jaunting car. The view from site is beautiful. The information posters are interesting. The tour 40 minutes so wasn't able to participate. Cost of tour is reasonable at 5 euro.

Visited on a cold, bright March day. The walking paths in the area are great. The views so still, so beautiful. One path was impassible due to flooding, would have preferred if a notice had been erected as ended up having to turn back half...More

I got the horse and cart in which is usually great . The cart allows you 15 minutes to go around the castle which without the boat tour is more than enough time. My one complaint is that the visitor centre is never open so...More

The Ross Castle B&B is in Oldcastle County Meath and not the one in Killarney. There is a disclaimer in their website.

You cannot have any food or drink out during your tour however there are lovely areas outside to eat and enjoy the brilliant views.
