Skellig Michael is absolutely amazing. I was there during puffin season, and that made things ten times better. It is the type of place which restores your faith in humanity by showing you just what amazing things we can make. The monastery was absolutely fantastic....More

One of the most surreal places I've been in my life. Hike is extremely steep but short. If you can get a boat out (make sure to book a month in advance or more for a chance), you need to see this. Sitting in the...More

This was one of the scariest things I've ever done, but it was well worth it. Visiting here is really lucky. Only a certain number of visitors are allowed per day, which helps make navigating the scary 600 steps easier. The boat companies that take...More

I was there in June, which was the middle of the Puffin breading season, and I would definitely recommend following suit. To begin with, I should warn that getting there is by fishing boat, and the hour long ride was somewhat rough. For those that...More

I took the boat tour to Skellig Michael with Joe Roddy Tours (including a close approach to Small Skellig to see the gannet colony) and received exceptional treatment from Ken Roddy. He was the most accommodating tour operator I have ever encountered and has left...More

Jus back from skellig. We had an amazing time. We went on the Celtic victor boat with Dan who was a gentleman and made our trip both safe and enjoyable. This is a brilliant sight to see but at the same time is very much...More

We went on a pretty foggy day, for me this really added to the experience and made it seem like another world completely. The walk up isnt too difficult and even if you're not use to walking, the puffins will keep you entertained. Would have...More

This was one of the best experiences ever. I was very lucky to get a cancellation and I mean very lucky. I waited across at Portmagee for 1.5 hours with no luck, there was about 20 people waiting there in the hope someone doesn't show...More

I rarely give a rating of 5 but Skellig Michael is breathtaking. We did not exactly have picture postcard weather but it is just incredible: Start with the cute puffins which are everywhere and so accustomed to tourists, they will just look at you even...More

First of all, anyone coming to Portmagee should get out to the Skelligs! We met the captain of the boat, Declan, at the harbour in Portmagee an hour before we were scheduled to leave. He was very friendly and got us all on the boat...More

The monastic site is quite high up on the island, so it's hard to get a good view of it. And then of course it can be foggy. In good visibility you'll be able to see the huts up there alright, though not in any detail.
