We had booked (through our B&B owner) to travel to Skellig Michael on Monday 3rd August 2015. The appalling weather prevented all boats from going out, so we waited four days and tried again on Thursday 6th August. Despite queuing up from 8.15 that morning...More

What a wonderful experience we had last weekend - not for the faint-hearted though! We took the boat out to Skellig Michael from Valentia Island. It was a smallish boat which maybe holds about 15 people comfortably. The sea was very rough going over and...More

If you're anywhere near the Ring of Kerry and are physically able, you must take the boat trip to the Skelligs. They're a UNESCO World Heritage site. The place is a geological, zoological and historical marvel. Locals are sold/given permits each year to take tourists...More

I recently did a boat trip to Skellig Michael on the 29th of June with three others in my group, all of us locals. It was the same trip described accurately by Dandyspud (Thank You). This was a trip none of us will forget for...More

This is without a doubt worthwhile visiting, we had such an amazing time. We took the boat from Ballyskelligs and it was less than an hour, the size of the swell was impressive and we got a little wet but it was not a rough...More

We were unfortunate enough to have booked to go out to the island on what turned out to be a very windy and rainy day. Despite all of that, the trip was well worth it. As well as the monastic ruins, which have a lightly...More

One of the highlights of our honeymoon. The island is extremely interesting and worth the trip if the weather is cooperative so definitely go if you can. The waters can get quite rough and the day we went, it took us almost 2 hours to...More

Amazing attraction. Ireland doesn't have many such sites but this should be on the "bucket list" of every Irish person. Truly unique experience. Some pointers: 1. The OPW (Office of Public Works) who run the Island are trying to shut down / severely limit tours...More

You can never plan on weather in Ireland. I have been in May when there is only sun and no rain, and I just got back last week, and it rained almost every singe day. I would say go. You will have a great time. Just layer... More

What about using trekking poles for balance, etc in going up and down the stairs? I only saw one person with them in safety video I have watched, but I am thinking I would want to use at least one pole. thanks.

You could if you have rubber tips. I didn't see anyone using trekking poles, but it should be possible. Skellig Michael is mostly rock. Your regular tip would not get any purchase on the step or the rocky surface. Good... More

Summer 2018, my 4 (who have hiked to top of mountains on cliffs edges no harnesses, will be 15,13,10, and 8. I am currently planning a 2-3 week trip and looking to come to hike Michael Skellig. I was hoping to refer my travel agent to Caseys boat....how much is it per person? Do you have life jackets on board?
