Located in the city mall, these walls are definitely a surprise. If you read the story of the walls you can almost picture old Galway.

Just another shopping mall, but it was fascinating how they incorporated the old city walls into the middle. Actually it was a bit sad to see those ageless walls topped with mannekins dressed in sportswear, but at least the walls survive!

We walked just about everywhere in the Old Downtown section of Galway and never saw that. We did find some bits & pieces of walls around the city. Not easy to find, like everything in Galway no signage.

I ducked in here through an unassuming doorway on Quay Street, looking for a restroom. What a surprise to find myself in a shopping mall with an old city wall in the lower level! Bright, cheery, with a nice history about Galway along the wall....More

It's neat that these walls are exposed. You can find them in different parts of the city, but the easiest place is the shopping center off of Eyre square...basically its like going to the mall to see a pieces of history. So it almost seems...More

It was interesting that the old walls still remained in the main mall of Galway. I knew we would see history all around us in Ireland but it was kind of nice to see it while we were shopping for souvenirs :).
