I ducked in here through an unassuming doorway on Quay Street, looking for a restroom. What a surprise to find myself in a shopping mall with an old city wall in the lower level! Bright, cheery, with a nice history about Galway along the wall. btw - restrooms are 20 cents. Nice and clean.

It's neat that these walls are exposed. You can find them in different parts of the city, but the easiest place is the shopping center off of Eyre square...basically its like going to the mall to see a pieces of history. So it almost seems more like part of the cheesy mall decour than a real attractions. Don't get me... More

It was interesting that the old walls still remained in the main mall of Galway. I knew we would see history all around us in Ireland but it was kind of nice to see it while we were shopping for souvenirs :).

A portion of the city wall are ok to see but they are in the middle of a modern, busy shopping mall. I felt like I was at Disneyland. I wouldn't go out of my way for a visit.

We knew nothing about the history of the town of Galway until finding the Medieval City Walls. Enclosed within the Eyre Shopping Centre, the designer of the story, as told in wall pages, was written in a way anyone could understand. It was interesting and very well researched. A credit to the local authority.

Located in the center of Galway, this was a very interesting find. It was easy to miss. Local guide at the wall findings was very informative.

If you're in Galway anyway, you may as well take a look. I appreciate history and it was fun to imagine the people who might have lived in these walls over the centuries. It's next to Eyre Square and a minute or two from the Latin Quarter.
