Music is everywhere in Galway city but this 90 minute concert of traditional, un-miked Irish music + church tour was the highlight of our stay. Sit inches from the musicians who explain their instruments & the music's history!

We were walking around Galway and happened upon St. Nicholas' church. We saw a brochure about Tunes in the Church and came back that night. It was our best musical experience in all of Ireland, and even our 21 year old daughter traveling with us...More

By far the single most memorable, unique, authentic and intellectually-stimulating experience during my 10 day trip in Ireland. Yes, I watched Riverdance in Dublin before visiting Galway. A tomb in the corner of the church served as the stage. I mean, the dancer was literally...More

You have to applaud tunes in the church for putting together some fantastic talent on display, however its the manner in that it is projected where the problem is. Unfortunately the music and dance is almost portrayed as a fairy tale to the onlooking audience,...More

I found out about "Tunes in the Church" by mere chance. The owner of the guesthouse I stayed at recommended it, and what a lovely suggestion that turned out to be! On the night of 21 August, therefore, I went to St. Nicholas' Church and...More

What a wonderful treat to have seen an all star performance of Sean-Nós by Emma O'Sullivan, a master harpist of the highest caliber Úna ní Fhlannagáin, and flautist and fiddler duo from around the world George Gasso and Mayo Yanachi. As if that wasn't enough,...More

If you want to get a taste of Irish traditional music while in Galway (or for that matter Ireland), this is a must see. We saw different performers including one of the greats in the field, Charlie Piggott. The acoustics are excellent and the setting...More
