I had read that a pub you "had to visit" was Grogan's. So, when we happened upon it while wandering through Dublin, we stopped for a Guinness. The beer was great, of course, and they were nice but it was a pretty old (not in a good way), smelly, and a bit grimy. Won't go back on our next trip.

We went there on Thursday and came back on Friday to check the atmosphere. It was packed both inside and outside, people chatting, drinking beers, laughing, having fun (Craic :p). If you're lucky and get a table outside (they are heated) you'll enjoy the crowds passing by and feel all that vibe that Dublin has to offer. Good beer, of... More

This is a real pub. No fake trad music - just low chatter, pints, craic, and a sense of really being in Ireland. Great toasties, and no tourists (except us but we heard about it from local folks). No credit cards accepted so bring plenty of cash because you won't want to leave it once you get there, start meeting... More

One of the cheapest places we visited and by far the most pleasant. It's a proper pub, with no chain pub polish and that's just fine. Expect a good pint with a bit of banter, if that's your thing, and a great place to sit and people watch. Will go again.

Without doubt the best pint of Guinness we had all weekend - And we certainly sampled a few! If you fancy exploring beyond the watering holes of Temple Bar then Grogan's is a no nonsense, proper pub. Good atmosphere, hard working staff and a lovely pint. Tasted so creamy it was what we had dreamed about before we arrived. In... More

Loved the atmosphere at this pub and sitting outside was great too because the tables are larger than most other places with plenty of room in between (rare find in Dublin!). Friendly service. First time trying Lamp Beer and it was by far my favorite beer in Dublin. We were entertained by a talented street performer singing and playing the... More

If you get a seat outside this pub, take it and you will have a great time watching all of Dublin pass you by. There are good heaters so you'll be cosy. The Guinness is good too.

We loved our evening at Grogan's but don't dare ask for a fancy cocktail "it's not that kinda pub." No tvs, no music. Great Guinness and conversation.

Grogan's is a great place to sit out with a pint and a cheese and ham toasty, people watching while in the centre of Dublin, alongside locals as much as tourists.

A traditional pub, a meeting place and a hangout. Good beer selection and friendly staff. Food menu limited to toasted sandwiches. Large amount of art on walls, much of it for sale.
