- Gerry Mc Devitt2 contributionsA great experience.I undertook the Croke Park stadium tour yesterday. It was a most enjoyable and informative tour, very well led by the guide Seamus. He had a wealth of knowledge, which he delivered with coherence and enthusiasm. It was evident that he had a passion for the GAA. After the tour I was able to spend time in the museum. The museum had a wealth of exhibits, interactive videos, etc, covering the GAA from its conception to the present. There was also an excellent cafe. Overall, great value for money, and I would highly recommend this tour for all GAA fans, and those who want to learn about our sports. - Extremely normal personHouston, Texas70 contributionsHurling is a revelation; a must-see for anyone with an interest in sportsThis isn't really a review of Croke Park or its museum. It's a stadium. It has stadium things. It is fine. It's a little different than American stadia, in that you can buy alcohol, but you can't bring it into the stands. I visited Croke Park with my wife, kids (14, 11, 7yo) and my parents to watch the Christy Ring Cup Finals, the final for one of the lower leagues of Irish hurling. The ticket gets you in for three such finals, but we only had time for one. We are sports fans, not rabid, but enthusiastic. This was our first hurling match. I simply cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed this game. Hurling is fast-paced, exciting, and has lots of odd rules that are fun to try to decode. The skill level of the athletes is extremely high, even at this level-- they do things with that stick (hurley) that look so effortless, but you can see that they took lots of practice. Also, though infinite contact is not allowed, there was a decided dearth of flopping, really refreshing if you have been suffering through men's soccer or the NBA recently. Honestly, the surprising thing isn't that the Irish have clung to this game, it's that it hasn't spread much further. The crowd for this match was great. They were very involved, vocal in support for their teams and in editorializing about the referees' calls, but respectful. Large groups of fans for one team or the other sat together, but they were in a patchwork, not segregated in any meaningful way. Crowd conduct was very good, and we never felt that the fans should have been separated from each other or that there were safety issues. In short, watching hurling at Croke Park was a highlight of our trip. The entire experience was amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in sports. I'm looking for a hurling club back in Texas now.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 June 2024

It was my first time visiting Croke Park and Dublin. The sound was great, the view was good and the atmosphere was brilliant. Tried booking this tour for 2 solid days but online booking service was down.. We r on social media and their website ( there was no message on their website and not everybody uses social media!!! )she explained that the 1pm slot was gone and would we like to book the 2.30pm slot instead? I explained that I had 2 very disappointed children in the back of the car on route to Dublin and she hung up on me. My wife rang back 1 minute later to book the 2.30pm slot which she had explained was available and she said it was sold out. ( 1 minute later!!).
Very, very disappointed children once again!!
I fully understand that with covid 19 restrictions, they want to operate an online booking system but come on Croke Park, if you want to implement these online bookings etc, do it correctly....

Garth Brooks Concert - Electric atmosphere and Garth is a super entertainer. However left feeling a bit disappointed, we were in the Upper Hogan Stand and the sound quality was awful. We couldn’t make out what he was saying due to how muddled the sound was. Even some of the songs left us puzzled unless they were the big numbers as we just could not make out the words.
Also the big screens weren’t in sync with the sound as we could see his mouth moving differently to what we were hearing.
Also very little security visible, nobody nearby to ask for help when the couple in front of us spent the whole concert vaping heavily.

I've never reviewed a stadium before, because, well, I've never really needed to. Visited in sept 22 for the Garth Brooks shows. Attended on the 3rd night of the 5 and have to say, was really blown away by the efficiency and organisation of the day. I've visited a fair few stadiums in my time, being a football fan and have been to Wembley Stadium twice for gigs, but Croke took the biscuit for how well organised the whole night was. Arrived pretty early as we had standing tickets and wanted to be pretty close to the front (turns out we literally were right at the front) and joined the shirt queue already ahead. Gradually we were moved forward and down closer to the stadium where we filtered in with more people where at this point I felt it would be difficult to get to the front due to the large amount of people ahead. Thankfully this wasn't the case as those that had queued up early were let in first and were moved into the stadium concourse where security moved everyone down and towards the pitch slowly and in order, meaning those that had queued first didn't miss out on getting a good spot. Security throughout were friendly and however good the artist is, sometimes having a good or bad experience with the organisation can make or break a night. All in all, really impressed by the whole night

Garth Brooks Concert - this was our first concert with our two teenage sons. We are regular attendees to Croke Park (big GAA family). We love Croke Park on match days. As a family we did enjoy the City centre lights and nice food. As for the concert, it was an electric atmosphere and Garth is a super entertainer. However left feeling a bit disappointed, we were in the Davitt Stand and like a previous contributor said the sound quality was awful. We couldn’t make out what he was saying due to how muddled the sound. We could not make out the words. The big screens weren’t in sync with the sound as we could see his mouth moving differently to what we were hearing. 3 women stood up in front of us and danced all night, more luck to them, but they blocked my wife and two young boys entire view of the stage and screen. They also spilt beer all all over the ground where we were seated. One young person as security visible, but ineffective, nobody nearby to ask for help. I asked if they could sit as we couldn’t see anything, but they refused and told us to stand if we couldn’t see. So thirty minutes in we left and found seats higher up in the disabled section.
Great atmosphere with the lighting etc but with no view, poor sound and people loaded with alcohol we won’t be back there for a concert again. Match days yes, concerts no.

Terrible seats for AC/DC concert!
Section 335, Row HH, seats 6,7, 8 & 9.
We couldn’t see the band/stage setup/lighting/screens at all. Very disappointing seats that were not cheap.
We could only see Angus Young & Brian Johnson when they walked out on the platform. Croke Park screens were not switched on. Tickets should not be sold in Section 335 for concerts.

We couldn’t leave Dublin without watching a Gaelic Football game at Croke Park, luckily the season was kicking of the weekend we were there Dublin vs Kildare. Bought the tickets online through ticketmaster. Seats were in Hogan lower stand. Would suggest rows AA back for best view and to be out of any rain that may come.

I attended a concert at Croke Park with my husband and friends. The stewards were very helpful and extremely friendly, the Garda too. The stadium was spotlessly clean and everything was easily accessible , minimal queues. A thoroughly enjoyable experience

Bruce Springsteen concert 19th May 2024. Urine from the urinals was flowing out out on the walkways and was unavoidable when coming in and out of the main pitch. At the end of the show there was hundreds of empty cans and plastic cups left on the floor and it was extremely slippy. A gentleman I did not know was walking towards me and fell and took me down with him. He injured his ankle and I just came away with a few bruises. Really disappointed with my experience of the venue.

We will be in Dublin August 31 and September 1. Would love to attend an event and checked GAA website, but it seems tickets aren’t available yet? Any ideas how to go about buying tickets ahead and where to look online? Thanks!

Hello, we will be in Dublin June 2019 and would love to see either a Gaelic football match or hurling match at Croke Park. Will either of those be going on that time of year? What the season for those sports?Thank you!

Championship season starts around Ireland around mid May each year, but the first game in Croke Park is usually around the 2nd weekend of June. Usually Dublin play that weekend. (There or there abouts).Season finishes up around the 2nd weekend of September. The draw and format is usually made around mid October the previous year.Look up GAA website at the end of this year to be 100% 👌👍

I have visited Dublin once before, but would like to visit again. My schedule is fairly open, so I can travel almost any time in the year. I would really like to attend a sporting event at Croke Park Stadium, partly because I enjoy sports and also because I really like history (retired history teacher). I would appreciate your opinions as to what time of year I should visit (any weather is fine with me) to see a sporting event (any sport) at Croke Park Stadium. Thanks!

The GAA season tends to end in late augusr/ early September, but can be quite hard to get tickets for. Right now we are just beginning the "Super 8s" (or quarter finals), so I'd say around now would be perfect, as you would easily get your hands on tickets, and there would still be an exciting atmosphere in the stadium, which you don't usually get at the early stages of the competition

won tickets for Michael Bublè and the only place I could get to stay was at the travelodge in phoenix park, I'm just wondering what is the best way to get to croke park and back?
Written 1 July 2018
Taxi is best, but you can get the Luas to O'Connell street, from there about 15 mins walk.
