This must be a very important monument for Irish people. Fighting for freedom is always honorable! We admired O'Connell's (the "Liberator") statue with the four winged figures (Patriotism, Fidelity, Courage and Eloquence) all around.

Another Dublin monument that really needs a way to keep the birds off but not sure how they'd do that. It is a nice area to stroll through with all the other sights and pubs too.

`O' Connel was one of the greatest leaders in Ireland. The statue is impressive and when passing by, it is worthwhile to take a moment and learn about his role in history.

This bronze on granite plinth and limestone, 40-feet in height, monument commemorates Daniel O’Connell (1775-1847), an Irish national leader and liberator of Catholic Ireland. There are about 40 30 figures and symbols on this monument. I don’t know the intended meaning of the many people...More
