There are quite a few bridges crossing the River Liffey now. Some are just for pedestrians but there are a few more road bridges since I last visited. Probably the main bridge that crosses the river is O'Connell bridge which links to O'Connell Street.
As well as pedestrians and cars and buses crossing the bridge there is also the green line of the trams crossing so it is quite a busy place.
If you get a chance try and get a picture of the river from this bridge as it is very pretty and will make for a nice way to remember your visit to the city.

O’Connell Bridge is the best known bridge in Dublin. It connects the the Southside shopping area of Grafton Street with the Northside shopping area of Henry Street. It connects the Southside with the main thoroughfare O’Connell Street. The bridge is a great place to view many of Dublin’s iconic buildings .

This three-arch bridge over the River Liffey was built over the 1791 to 1794 period, and rebuild between 1877 and 1882. A sign on the bridge indicates that it was originally called Carlisle Bridge. In 1882, the rebuilt bridge opened and was renamed, O’Connell Bridge. Due to its Portland stone and granite structure, it is much heavier than most bridges of its size.
As an overall tourist attraction, it is difficult to rank this any higher than “average.”

A bridge full of people that is both historic and vibrant. A very special place that serves as crossing and connector for life in Dublin.

An unremarkable bridge with a constant flow of Romanian and local vagrants hanging around asking for change.
There is a plaque to take a look at / photo with but otherwise move on / nothing to see.

This is the Bridge that leads on to what is supposedly Irelands National street - O'Connell Street. It is basically a dirty old chewing gum covered, junkie infested, over crowded eye sore full of rough and nasty locals bashing in to you. Most annoying of all is the ridiculous traffic system which sees cars and buse coming at you from every angle and making it almost impossible to get across!!
