Overview
More
Dublin Castle was for 700 years the seat of British power in Ireland. Today you can still view the remains of the 13th century structure as part of the guided tour. The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700's and today is used by the Irish Governemnt for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignatories. Amongst the highlights are the Ladies Drawing Room, the Throne Room and St. Patricks Hall.

This is not a "castle" in the typical sense. It was really the home of the British Viceroys, but still worth the tour to see how they lived (opulent) while ruling Ireland. Many of the rooms have been restored to their grandeur of the 1800's....More

A great couple of hours at this great attraction, although it looks more like a palace than a castle it’s a great place. Pay the extra for the official tour though because it’s well worth it. Beautiful old church and rooms, if you like to...More

We paid only €3 extra per adult for the guided tour which was well worth it. Got to see the excavated walls and powder room, and see inside the beautiful chapel, and heard all the history, which you wouldn’t do on a standard “self guided”...More

It felt more like a museum than a castle. But it’s in the city center and there are also a lot of sights in the area.

My wife and I took the tour around the castle and really enjoyed it as it was informative and allowed us to see parts of the castle that are only accessible on the tour. It was well organised and converting our on-line booking to a...More

We visited the castle this morning and paid the extra €3 each for the guided tour (which lasted a little over an hour) - well worth it. You get to see the underground castle ruins and inside the chapel as well as getting your own...More

A most entertaining and educational guided tour. The guides name was (among several) Richard. He took us with a firm hand through the different periods and related them to the audience by reffering to links to dfferent nationalities. A nice touch with his «servant». You...More

Our guide was very well versed on the history of the castle which makes the experience much more worth it. Other wise you are just walking around beautifully ornate rooms with very little knowledge as to what, where, why, and how. Also with the guided...More
