Dublin Castle was for 700 years the seat of British power in Ireland. Today you can still view the remains of the 13th century structure as part of the guided tour. The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700's and today is used by the Irish Governemnt for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignatories. Amongst the highlights are the Ladies Drawing Room, the Throne Room and St. Patricks Hall.

We learned so much by taking the tour - and we got to see the beautiful chapel and the below ground original walls. Worth the visit!

We really enjoyed our tour of Dublin Castle - our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and took us through the castle at an excellent pace. She was able to answer all questions and gave us a great overview of the castle's history.

The 45-minute tour was given by a historical expert who was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. The castle itself is not terribly old but there is definitely some history. It's not a gorgeous building but has some nice features, especially the chapel. Definitely glad we went, and enjoyed seeing the underground "finds" showing earlier history.

The castle is barely there anymore, some of it is painted blue and yellow which is dreadful. I was disappointed to say the least.

Just over a week ago myself and my fiance were visiting Dublin from the North for a concert and decided the next day we would take the tour of Dublin Castle as I love tours. I always take a guided tour where possible as I just feel majority of the time they are worth every penny and you learn so... More

It will give you very good picture of the Dublin and Ireland history. There is no castle in full sence of the word due to history but they gave a good effort to show how it was in full use. We took a guided tour and really feel that it was worth the money spent. The tour guide was informative,... More

Dublin Castle was open a bit earlier (9:45) than was stated online, so it was very quiet. We decided to take the tour, which was very interesting and takes you to places you can not go on your own. I would definitely recommend taking the tour, not only because it is very informative, but also because the part you can... More

If you are interested in the history of Dublin this is a nice way to put some context around it. Home to the ruling classes of Ireland for many years you can ensconce yourself in an opulent and bygone era. Around 7 Euro for the self guided tour you can see many of the oder rooms in the Castle but... More

Excellent small group tour with guide, short but excellent and limited talk, about various room-there use, purpose, and who used the place, view of castle walls in basement or base of castle with river entrance back when castle built, walking impaired can't make it, gift shop and food available, old church of the castle is very interesting, state house/apartments similar...
