Hi I went there today with my wife and had a lovely walk and fantastic tea and buns in the old tea shop.
My wife needed a toilet and a very kind warden gave her a lift .Such a kind man who went way beyond his Job description
Could do with more toilets and bins

It was really nice to see that even in the winter the park is so beautiful and full of green. It was lovely to stop at the Phoenix park cafe house. Unfortunately, we did not meet many deers but we managed to say hi to 4 of them. :) It is best to look for them near the cross.

We had been staying nearby at the Ashling Hotel and decided to have another walk into Phoenix Park. It is free to enter and great for walking and other activities. We saw many jogging groups on the Sunday morning enjoying the beautiful open countryside views with superb trees and literally numerous wild deer. Within Phoenix Park is a Zoo which would appear to be very well attended. The size of the park just for clarity is approx. 1800 acres which as you can imagine would take you hours to walk around. We only touched on part of it, but we would highly recommend a visit here.

President of Ireland’s home and the US Ambassador's home are in Phoenix Park. This park, at 1752 acres, is twice the size of New York’s Central Park. Park contains the
Dublin Zoo, Wellington Monument, Magazine Fort and numerous sports fields. The two main gates are open 24 hours a day.

The park has a wide open area where deers roam freely. You can feed them with grass and leaves. It's a fairytale experience. Overall, the park is very big, it also has wide simple areas for jogging and walking, areas with trees, a tea house, benches, areas where people walk their dogs and also a zoo (which I can't review as I haven't visited). The park is very simple, unpretentious and extremely wide. Definitely worth a visit if you love animals, especially if they are free and not in a zoo.

Probably one of the most wonderful parks in Dublin. Located in the north area of Dublin it's a really nice place where to go specially with family, kids and couples. If your lucky you may spot friendly deers behind the obelisk. There is a lot of space to running, make a picnic and relax.

Attended Blooms today, and absolutely disappointed with the experience. The traffic getting into the park was absolutely ridiculous, sitting In traffic for over 45 minutes and hardly any movement at all. When you finally get in to car park, the stewards park every car a good distance from entrance, despite loads of space nearer entrance. When we finally got in,rip off Ireland kicks in.The food vans are overpriced, nearly 20 euro for fish and chips and can of Fanta. The flower stalls are overpriced also.left feeling very deflated and sad,at a show that is usually so good, was a shambles..😩😩😩😩

Originally a private park, it might as well still be if you don't drive there. To walk to any peripheral entry point and back from Dublin city centre, you've clocked 10000 steps without entering the park. You might as well be walking in the wilds of the Wicklow mountains from there on in with the lack of facilities. You need to bring snacks, drinks and toilet roll! 2 cafés (with toilet facilities) are at least another 5km from the entry points to the park and close at 5.
With so much nature around to see, the park benches have been thoughtfully placed along the road running through the park so you can sit and watch the cars go by. The benches are on an axis such that you would have to lie down on the bench to fully see a sunrise or sunset. It should be filled with people enjoying the nature. Instead, there are clusters of people on the grass at the entry points, too exhausted, hungry and needing a pee to venture further in. The only folks you'll see at the cafés will have driven there. There is no public transport to the excellent visitor centre, Farmleigh, great Cafés or for those tiny legs going to the Zoo. The park was originally established as a pleasure park for an aristocratic elite. By making it inaccessible to those without cars (let alone the less able-bodied) doesn't go any way towards making it a park for all people.

We did not know what to expect other than it is a large park. Large is an understatement, it is bigger than the centre of Dublin, and it is beautiful! There are three herds of deer, that are tame too! There is a lovely lake, many flowerbeds, and plenty of pathways to walk. For anyone who has difficulty with walking there is not a lot of seating though. There is a wonderful hidden gem of a pub, called The Hole in the Wall too! Lots of wildlife to see on the way, along with the Presidents Palace and American Ambassador (both viewable from outside gates)
We really enjoyed it here!

Is there a designated place to play football or soccer? Looking to go tomorrow (Saturday) morning to kick a ball around. Thanks in advance!

yes there are designated football pitches, they are in a part of the park known as the fifteen acres, but if you would just like a kick around with your son and a few friends anywhere in the park is ok. just make sure you keep well away from the main road as you would not like the ball to roll into any traffic, safety first, and that won't be a hard thing to achieve since the park has approx 1760 acres, enjoy, Michael.

Yes! Team sports including soccer and football are played in the area referred to as 15 acres. There are also areas throughout the park that would also work for that! Great park! You will enjoy it!
