If you take this tour, do yourself a favor & request a day that John can be your guide. While I'm sure all the guides are great, in all my years of travel, I've never encountered a guy like this. He's so full of energy...More

Wild Wicklow does describe it, as our guide John was very enthusiastic and energetic. My friend wasn't as enamored of his style, one reason for a 4 instead of a 5. That, and the Avoca Mills stop wasn't a thrill for me, though I appreciate...More

Rick Steves indicate that this tour includes the Gardens of Powerscourt but it seems not to. Could anyone clarify this? Thanks.

No, it doesn't include the gardens - for sure, but it was definitly great tour...
It seems that, besides the scenery, the driver is key to the enjoyment of this tour. All the negative reviews that have been posted have been about the driver's rudeness, unprofessionalism, inability to control rowdy students, etc. Is there any way that we can determine who our driver will be about a week before the tour? Or can we determine if our bus is filled with students by the age group that they book under? I realized it's not fair to think that all students would misbehave; perhaps the review was the exception rather than the rule. However, we are seniors and while we love excitement and joyfulness, we do want to hear the driver give history about the area, and if, as previous reviews have stated, the noise level of the students was such that the driver just stopped his commentary it would ruin the day for us.
