Highly recommended visit,this castle dating back to year 1560,is situated on a hill top over looking lough Swilly.Impressive panoramic views of surrounding area.Can be difficult to access (I approached from the south side through a few steep fields(nettles and a barbed wire fence to contend with!),however there is a farm house/yard at the northern side which seems to have its... More

most people visit the nearby grianan of aileach ring fort as it is older and more impressive but my son and i visited burt castle during a summer sunday afternoon. The castle is pretty much derelict but with care you can actually go to the top and admire the surrounding scenery.
