About
Crawford Art Gallery is a National Cultural Institution and regional art museum for Munster, dedicated to the visual arts, both historic and contemporary. Admission to the Gallery and to exhibitions is free. The permanent collection comprises almost 4,000 works, ranging from eighteenth century Irish and European painting and sculpture, through to contemporary video installations. I visited this cafe the other day with my elderly mother. We arrived 5mins after the breakfast was finished and were told lunch would start in 45minis. We were to get a train but as my mother was very keen to eat there, we decided to kill some time and come back. We settled and a lovely girl took our order. We asked to speak to the manager, as my mum was asking about the possibility of bringing a group of 20 from Dublin to visit the museum and then on for some lunch. While my mother was speaking, the rude manageress told her to 'stop talking'. I was so shocked at seeing this rude lady talk to my mother is such a manner that I insisted on leaving. I would not recommend this establishment, and this lady needs to go back to training!!!

We popped in here whilst visiting Cork, admission is free and I imagine you could spend many hours here if all the exhibition rooms were open but many of them were closed so we spent about an hour looking at what was available.
The Casts were very interesting and also the exhibition about the building which used to be the customs house.
Would visit again if the rest of the exhibition rooms were open.

We have just spent a lovely 2 hours in the Art Gallery. We had a great tour from Matthew he explained the history of the building it’s collections and future developments. It’s a free tour and was an excellent way to spend the time on a rainy Sunday

An eclectic mix of paintings and sculptures, some excellent, others with less obvious appeal. Housed in a lovely old building in the City Centre, it's well worth passing an hour here. There is also an excellent cafe, set up for outdoor eating during the pandemic

I visited the Crawford with a group of my girl friends on a weekend away in Cork and I must say what a gorgeous experience the 5 of us had! The museum is an old Georgian/Victorian era gem. A jewel in the city centre. Firstly we went to look at the Ground floor exhibition (Meat and Potatoes ?) while in here we were greeted by a lovely young lad called John. He was so warm and helpful and knew a lot about the background of the paintings and the context of the exhibition. I visit a lot of exhibitions and the workers are usually either not around or don’t know anything about the art but this young lad knew what he was talking about !! I absolutely adored the Yeats and seeing the painted biscuits. The staff upstairs were nice too. Loved the Harry Clarke room, what an asset to the city. The Crawford has a great bookshop on top of a fantastic gallery !

Nice gallery located next to the Opera House. The admission is free. Great thing to do on a rainy day. The collection was very eclectic from ancient sculptures that were done in plaster to ultra modern. Definitely worth an hour or so if you’re here especially if it’s wet outside.

Interesting wide ranging collection .
The Harry Clarke exhibition was fascinating, I would have liked to learned about how the three exhibited panels were made. I’m sure that this kind of work was technically very challenging in 1910/11.

We visited this museum today and enjoyed it but would have been upset if it was not free admission. While the temporary exhibits were well described and as a result interesting, all of the permanent collection rooms were closed. We were done in 45 minutes.

Well worth a visit! I would recommend the Odyssey and Saturation exhibitions while they are here. Thoroughly enjoyed the art on display, especially the Harry Clarke stained glass. I'll definitely be adding this to my when in Cork itinerary. 😊

I found the employees fantastic. They were polite, considerate and extremely helpful.
There was a young lad logging covid details he was excellent and advised me on how to scan a QR code and log myself in.
There is a photographic display on in the lower gallery on people killed during the troubles from 1916 and after.
I had a truly memorable time.
Thanks for a wonderful visit to all.
