We have taken the trip to "secret falls" a couple of times before. This time we wised up and rented a canoe from Kamokila Hawaiian Village as they are about a 10 minute paddle from the kayak parking area. They have a limited number of...More

This was a ton of fun....first, you have to find the rental place (hidden drive), then you kayak 10 min to the trail head. The hike is only 1.25 miles and flat, but muddy. What would normally take 20 min, takes about 1 hour! The...More

We visited the falls on a guided hike through Ali'i Kayaks. I strongly recommend a guide to the falls, as there is very sensitive landscape anand ecosystem that misguided hikers are trudging all over. 1600 year old aquaduct ruins are being damaged by ill educated...More

We kayaked and hiked up to Secret Falls yesterday and the trails are in poor condition due to all the rain the island has had recently. We have done this trip 2X’s before and the trails were never like this. I would not recommend this...More

Initially we tried to get a canoe from the small Hawaiian village to shorten the kayak portion, but they were sold out, so we went down to where the river boats launch and got a kayak there. It was about $90 to rent and be...More

My family and I visited the falls today. The kayaking and hike both are fairly easy and the falls were beautiful! It was easy for the little ones too.

rent your kayak at Kamokila Hawaiian Village, they are the closest (and cheapest) and you can keep the kayak all day! The hike is easy to the falls, just a bit on mud. Once there go for a swim!

Begin your kayaking trip to the trail head from the Kamokila Hawaiian Village. This will eliminate an hour of useless paddling compared to beginning at the outfitters at HWY 56. Guides are not offered here, but they are not necessary, the trail is very obvious....More

Did a kayaking / hiking trip up to the falls to take a swim. Brilliant experience and very COLD. Well worth the effort though. Beautiful waterfall.

In order to reach Secret Falls a short 10-15 min kayak trip is necessary to reach the start of the trail. The trail itself passes three streams (one of them knee-deep) so be prepared to get wet. The trail was quite muddy and even though...More

We did this hike yesterday after we rented paddle boards. The owner of the paddle board company suggested we paddle up the river to the trailhead on a self guided tour. Our kids are older than yours (16, 14) but I wouldn't... More

No need to know how to kayak, it is very easy and straight forward. Hike is minimally challenging. All hiking in Kauai can be slippery due to the mud and rain, so just take your time!
