We camped in several parks the week we were here and found the sites at Lydgate to be the absolute best. they are situated so that everyone has a piece of beach. It feels private in a public area.

Very clean park about ¾ full on a Saturday. Plenty of parking, lots of picnic tables and restrooms. Snorkeling area is great for beginners with several schools of fish. The waves were crashing over the rock wall containing the snorkel area the day we were...More

We stopped here using the Shaka Guide tour app to see the Hau’ola (city of refuge) heiaus (historical structures) and were pleased to find a park with so much more. The history was there along with Hawaiian hieroglyphs in the rocks which we enjoyed. The...More

We spent many afternoons at this park. The main area is a little crowded and they have rocks placed to create safe swimming areas for kids/families. We rode our bikes up the bike path to the amazing bridge play structure and to a more private...More

Nice state park on a long stretch of beach. Breakwater pool for small children on the North end of the park. Large playground. Clean restrooms. A number of small pavilion-type structures with charcoal grills next to the beach on the North end of the park—just...More

Stumbled on this place somewhat randomly, looking for a spot to eat our lunch. But easy paring, wonderful picnic tables to eat, and then a nice beach with life guard.

Wasn't impressed with the beach, but there is a lifeguard. Nice playground for the kids. The Bridge playground was really nice for the kids, but it didn't look like it was used very much. Restrooms, pavilions, & showers. Nice walking path.

It is a protected area and I have never seen a sign that says you can't, however it would depend on the number of people in the swimming area. I have been there at times when there are literally too many people in the water... More
