Designed and built by David Stevenson (R.L 's uncle) the lighthouse was actually manned until almost the end of the 20th century. Now it's automated but it's still an impressive piece of engineering...perched right on the edge of the cliff at the northernmost tip of the Hebrides. Fantastic views of a magnificent coastline, and if you're lucky (?!) enough to... More

It was breathtakingly beautiful here, with views into the North Atlantic, waves crashing against the rocky shore and even a golden eagle flew overhead. I could have spent hours, taking photographs of the seashore, the waves, the rocks. Great place.

There were some absolutely stunning views from here but be careful as it's right by some really steep drops that aren't always immediately visible. If you can go down to the beach which is just the cove before the lighthouse. It may have been our favourite beach of the island.

An iconic Outer Hebrides landmark. Plenty of parking, a bit of a drive off the beaten track but well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Also nice rocks and cliffs and the perfect view to the sea - Butt of Lewis is the end of the island and the way is worth to pass along, tiny villages and nice houses

Lovely spot to visit if you have nice weather! Located at the very north of Lewis. Very dramatic scenery on some picturesque cliffs. Worth a visit if it's not raining!

We loved the views of the lighthouse and of the rushing waters on the cliffs below. Beautiful. Please watch your step when walking around there.

I didn't want to leave this site. It was so peaceful and yet spectacular at the same time. It was a beautiful still evening when I visited but it would be great in bad weather too. Well worth a visit.
