This was our first visit to Isle of Skye and the number one thing on our list of things to see was the Eilean Donan Castle. We took a bus from our cruise ship at the Port of Portree. It was a spectacular drive out...More

Absolutely beautiful Castle. Reasonably priced to enter and fascinating historical content. Well worth a visit. However sadly disappointed with the restaurant. My husband was so looking forward to trying his first Scotch Pie but absolutely refused to accommodate his request for gravy instead of beans!...More

There are great facilities at the tourist attractions beside the castle, with restaurant, toilets and a shop. If you are staying nearby it is well worth a trip past it at night time when it is all lit up - it is spectacular during the...More

We got there at about 11:30 and it was pretty busy. There is quite a bit of parking so we didn't have any issues. Staff was very pleasant and the castle itself was quite interesting. The tour is self guided so you can spend as...More

To be honest Katie - the best photos of the castle are taken from outside of the grounds - ie the car park and surrounding shoreline. You will get some stunning shots. I don't think there are any car park barriers after... More

The castle is on the main road to Skye. Even if there is snow, the road itself will be cleared and passable throughout the winter season.
