I wouldn't make a special trip to see it but it really is beautifully lit during winter. Perfect for a stroll during the evening with plenty of hotels and restaurants along the Riverside to stop and have a bite

Make sure this is on your list. Winding roads the closer you get and plenty to see on the way including Urquhart Castle ruins and museum set below road level. Plus glorious water spots and views. Shops and B&B along the way.Just heavenly.

We drove from Inverness to Fort William and back up the south side of Loch Ness. Snow on the hills and a beautiful clear day. Amazing photos and stunning scenery.
