The river is the soul of the city. The walk across the river, on the ness walk, is relaxing and so enjoyable, and on the small islands on the river. Please take some time to see the sunset on the Ness Bridge.

The river Ness rights right through Inverness. On the south end of the city there is a fabulous trail right along its banks that is absolutely beautiful. If you visit here, this is a must.

You simply cannot say you've visited the Highlands without seeing/crossing the River Ness. It's important -- it's beautiful -- it's what gives the city its identity!

Apparantly the River Ness is the shortest river in Europe at just 7nm long (so the guy on the Jacobite cruise said). It joins Loch Ness to the Moray Firth at Inverness.

The River Ness forms an attractive centre to the City, with no less than five Bridges spanning the waters. Very picturesque and well worth a stroll in the early evening sunshine.

If you mean walking around ness islands, then it's as long as you like, you could speedwalk through them in ten mins, or stroll through in a couple of hours. We started on the south side of the river in town, walked along... More
