About
Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

Perfect place to spend an hour or two.

A beautiful, compact botanical gardens! It has a gorgeous array of plants which really inspired me for my home garden. There were also some beautiful plants available to buy for both indoors and outside, plus Shadow the resident cat! I recommend a visit to spend a little while enjoying the beautiful plants. There's a cafe too and free parking! Definitely worth a visit!

WHAT'S INCLUDED.

Plants from around the globe - cactus house, food gardens, florals.

The tropical house is closed during WARS time unless you get help from a kind staffer.

It's a small botanical garden but the collection of plants and trees were great and it was an enjoyable visit. The café was great too!

Charming Pretty Gardens

Lovely visit here on a perfect day. Most of the area was open apart from the summer house. There is plenty to see and nice walks around the gardens. Free entry as well!

Simply beautiful! An array of flowers and plants. I very much enjoyed being here after a long time. One of my first visits out since the lockdown restrictions ended and I can honestly say it was well worth the drive. The staff are a testament to the quality of care given to the botanical gardens Green residents. Keep safe.

Gem of a visit
May 2021 • Friends
A little gem to visit for an hour although the Tropical House was closed in these covid times. Lots of little areas and squares to explore. Great selection of trees and plants and flowers.

Recommended visit
May 2021 • Couples
Visited the Botanic Gardens whilst having a walk around the local area - my partner and I were staying in a hotel nearby for the night and it was recommended to us to have a wander down. Lovely little cafe attached to get a nice coffee. Gardens are well presented also. Nice to visit something different on a trip away.

Interesting little find!

The botanic gardens were lovely although in comparison to the likes of Edinburgh Botanics there wasn't as much to see here. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic some of the area was inaccessible which of course can't be helped. It is still worth the visit as it is free and what is there is nice to look at and the soup & paninis were delicious from the cafe!

Hi There, Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your visit. I'm really pleased you enjoyed the cafe it's recently been refurbished. We are much smaller than Edinburgh Botanic Gardens and younger we are only 26 years old verses 350! We are working on ways to open the tropical house but it is difficult to remain Covid compliant and protect the health of the plants. Thanks for coming. Ewan Mackintosh Manager.

Good cafe shame about the gardens
Oct 2020
Half of it is closed and the rest of it you can see in five minutes! Not worth the effort unless you want a good slice of cake.

Hi There, Thanks for visiting our gardens and taking the time to feedback. Sadly our Tropical house is closed due to Covid restrictions but the Cactus house and all of the external areas are open. I'm glad you like the cake. We have recently refurbished the cafe and created a new covered decking area. If you would like to provide more feedback I'd be happy to listen. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly at ewan.mackintosh@highlifehighland. Kind regards Ewan Manger.
