Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

A wonderful array of home baked goodies is just too tempting to resist with a decent cup of coffee to match. The floral hall is fabulous to wander through with fish in the pool and lots of interesting plants. If the weather is good then the outside garden is well worth a visit.

I've lived in Moray and been a keen and regular visitor to Inverness for work & pleasure since I was a wee lassie. I'm now 37 - HOW could I have known nothing about this magical place until a chance Facebook comment last year??? My husband and I enjoyed a long daunder around this 'hidden in plain sight' gem today,... More

Came here on a Sunday with a few hours to spare before heading to the airport to leave Inverness. The staff were so welcoming and put our carry on luggage in their office for us while we walked around the gardens. The gardens are great, especially the cacti! Can't believe this is a free attraction as I would have paid... More

I popped with with the person I had in my charge for the day. Had lunch and a wander around. Lunch was good and staff very friendly. There was plenty of room between the tables so that customers were not cramped. and then to have a wander about afterwards in the hot houses was great for a cold frosty day.... More

I loved my visit to the Gardens; there are many varieties of flowers, plants and ecosystems, all very well indicated. Although, I wish the coffee was ran better, so we could sit by the fire at any time or feel more comfortable to just stay cozy there and go walking again afterwards.

Well worth a visit in any weather conditions the carp pond is excellent, the gardens are beautifully kept a real credit to the persons who work there. The memory tree is nicely situated offering a quiet corner. The kids maze is also interesting for kids.

I visited on the 4th of January, I had the place to myself. I had plenty of space and time to practice macro photography and I also enjoyed a lovely lunch in the café. Overall a pleasant morning in lovely surroundings.

Since I came to the UK, I visited few botanic gardens but the Inverness one is my favourite! It is near to the River Islands and you can visit it in a nice walk by the river. The botanic garden is quite big and it is great because you can feel that you are in different places of the world.... More

On a recent visit to Inverness me and my fiance decided to take a riverside walk from the centre of town via the Ness Islands - which I highly recommend as it was stunningly beautiful. When we got to the end of this walk we decided to loop round, and stumbled upon the botanic gardens, which we had considered visiting... More
