About
Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

    A relaxing couple of hours.
Friendly staff. Well cared for garden. Lots of interesting plants, environments and layouts. Unique combination and wide variety of diffent places to explore over a coparatively restricted site. From standard gooseberries and espaliered apples, local crops, fruti & vegetables and beautiful plants; large variety of trees (coastal redwood spotted) & shrubs (too many to remember) and niches and meadow for wildlife. A rich planting environment. We will bring the grand children next time. Thank you to all involved and the hard working gardening team. Friendly cafe.

    Very well maintained
The botanic gardens are quite small but very well maintained. Very interesting to discover some plants and flowers. There is also a tropical greenhouse. Lastly the cafe offers a good selection of snacks and drinks. Worth stopping by.

    Really lovely gardens
I wasn't sure what to expect as the site looked quite small but it really packs in a lot for the size! the tropical house and the hot house were great and very thoughtfully laid out. Wandering round the other areas you came across something different at each turn and I ventured into the 'GROW' area at the back which had areas for teaching children and some fun little paths. I didn't stop at the cafe but it was busy and they have tables set out in the gardens (some inside a green house for rainy days) which must be lovely. They only ask for a donation on arrival which is unusual and I was more than happy to have paid the £5 option. There is plenty of free parking with the leisure centre.

Quite small garden with nice display of plants, scrubs and trees. A disappointment that on a Sunday the main greenhouse was closed for a private birthday party.

Spent a very enjoyable couple of hours at the gardens and cafe. Whilst only a small site, we were amazed at the number and variety of plants.

Pretty well laid out gardens. Has also got internal areas with cacti and air plants. Externally good. Has full facilities and cafe. I made donation which is voluntary

No dogs allowed - would have visited this afternoon but no dogs so no visit. Would have probably spent some money too so would urge the owners to reconsider and allow dogs in the grounds

Rang to ask if dogs were allowed but was told no dogs in gardens, however, I was welcome to sit outside while we took it in turns to get coffee at the cafe! I said it was pointless visiting gardens if dog not allowed in and couldn’t share experience with husband. Glad I rang to check first!

A lovely little place to visit. It was a bit of a wet day when we went but it was still enjoyable. The gardens have a really peaceful feeling and the cactus house was impressive.
