Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

I had planned go to visit the gardens when visiting Inverness based on the high ratings on TripAdvisor and it's high placing of things to do in Inverness. We found it slightly difficult to find and thought it would be signposted better. Anyway, it was pleasant and we spent about half an hour wallking around the different parts of the... More

This is somewhere that I haven't been in years so as we had friends staying with us it was a nice place to visit. The Gardens aren't big but they are relaxing, just wander around. The greenhouses and hot houses are full of plants, some of them you can purchase. They also sell cut flowers in the cafe for a... More

Not the easiest place to find but well worth it! Some very impressive plants, especially the cacti. Lots of plants to buy also and a nice café.

While not very big, this is a lovely garden and greenhouse. The variety is impressive considering the small grounds but lovely nonetheless. There is even a cafe for a snack while you are here.

The botanic gardens are free to visit. There is a cafe with really friendly staff. The weather was nice so we were able to visit outside in the gardens and have drinks which was fantastic. It's quite small so you won't spend hours here, but it is really lovely. The gardens are really well laid out with maps to tell... More

A well laid out garden on a small site. The variety and colour of the plants and the attractive layout combined to make our visit really memorable. We enjoyed an excellent light meal in the cafe attached beforehand.

We spent a lovely afternoon here wandering around the beautiful glasshouses and grounds. It is beautifully kept and has a huge variety of flowers, plants and shrubs. There is also a coffee shop where you can sit out and enjoy the gardens whilst enjoying your coffee.

I'm a local girl who loves to support what Inverness has to offer but I have to say this is my favourite place in the whole of Inverness. I have been many times over the years from when I was a child myself to taking my nephew or simply a stroll around with my friends or my partner. It's so... More

Parents and children learnt a lot in the bright, warm gardens. The plants were very unusual and interesting. We also made a seed mat to put in our garden with wild flower seeds, as there was a workshop with crafts for children - connected to the Inverness Science Festival nearby. The cafe was very family friendly and busy with a... More
