This is an amazing walk, you start at the car park and it climbs..climbs and keeps on climbing. I struggled but made it, this is not for the unfit as the climb is relentless, but once you are at the top....Wow

Took a trip up the funicular railway yesterday with some friends. It is a very informative trip up to the top. Went outside at the top and it was freezing cold, but the scenery was absolutely outstanding. Had some lovely soup at the top to warm us up and a nice trip down again. Well worth doing.

What a brilliant way of seeing the view from Cairngorm mountain even if you are unable to make the walk up, or short on time. Limiting the numbers of people that walk across the delicate plateau is a brilliant idea but yet doesn't limit the numbers that can enjoy the view (or not) and the rather bracing winds!

I knew before visiting of the current policy regarding dogs on the railway. However having now visited I really think this policy should be reviewed. There doesn't seem to be any reason why dogs can't go on the train up the mountain as separate entrances & exits could be used, and then allow visitors to walk back down. We did... More

We took the railway to the top of Cairngorm at the ptarmigan ski run and the restaurant. We went on a beautiful sunny day and had fantastic views over the Cairngorms.

Travelling up the mountain by its funicular is an experience! Its "shop at the top" offers a variety of present items. The restaurant offers delicious home made food. The terrace offers breath taking views. Ben Nevis should be visible on a clear day. Warm clothing essential.

I found the railway to be very overpriced, £24 for two adults to stand on a 50m piece of patio. It's not made clear beforehand that upon arriving at the top you aren't allowed on to the actual mountain and must remain in the sub standard visitor centre. Very unimpressed. £24 for a ride in a rickety tram up and... More
