Quite spectacular scenery and wildlife to be seen on the drive through this more remote park. If you are starting your drive in the Balmoral area and headed northwest towards Inverness, the roads in many sections are quite narrow (really only one lane with frequent...More

If you make it to this part of Scotland, you will be remiss if you do not drive in or through Cairngorms National Park. Winding Roads through the most beautiful mountainsides and sweeping valleys make this a must see for Scotland Holidays.

We visited the Cairngorms recently and thought we had found paradise... The Cairngorm National Park in North East Scotland was established in 2003 and it is now the largest national park in Britain... The park is in the centre of the Scottish Highlands and has everything...More

Drove through the Cairngorms, using A93 on a round-Scotland road trip. The beautiful vistas are plentiful and the scenery is rugged. There's lots of spots to pull over to enjoy the views. Shops and restaurants are fewer and far between, so stop when you can....More

Even though Mother Nature is waking from winter the checkered yellows and browns against the green conifers was a wonderful sight as we drove across the Cairngorms on a cloudy blustery day.

You just have to drive through this region to experience the natural beauty for yourself. We travelled during the winter and the wind was blowing quite hard, but careful driving as you won't be sorry you set out on this journey.

On our way from Aberdeen to Inverness, we elected to drive through the Cairngorms, entering near Ballater and driving through Cock Bridge, Tomintoul, etc, on the Old Military Road. (Our only mistake was not going a little past Ballater and seeing Balmoral Castle - but...More

This is an experience not to be missed. The views as you climb up the hill have to be seen to be believed. It only takes minutes to climb and even if you only go up to the top and straight back down it is...More

In the winter, it becomes a ski resort area but we got there when the heather had just dried out and fall has arrived. Even then, it was still lovely to see the rolling hills, streams and green pastures with sheep and if one is...More

We are considering going to Glencoe and Cairngorms National Park because we wanted to experience the Highlands, and there are some activities in Glencoe that are not in Cairngorms. Do people like one more than the other? Are they different enough for it to be worth going to both?

people will have their preferences but I would say each mountain area is different in character, due to the geology, weather patterns (east side is generally drier) and of course the history. Glencoe is more brooding and... More

My wife and I and our adult daughter will be at Cairngorm on or about May 20, 2015. What are the best attractions see in the park if you only have one day to visit it? Are the trails too exhausting for a 71 year old man and a 65 year old woman? For exercise, we walk about one mile 6 days of the week. Thank you, Eldon Everhart
