The Hidden Gardens was something I found out about with a article of "things to see and do in Glasgow" and took my fancy, as I knew the area it is located in pretty well, yet no idea about it.
Its free to visit, so headed along one Sunday afternoon with my two year old daughter and she loved it, as she just ran around the gardens chasing every leaf and trying to climb every tree.
Imagine in summer time its a real Oasis within the city, with people reading books, picnics on the grass and kids running around.
Maybe not worth going to out of your way for, but very much worth checking out if chance is there.

One of the best garden spaces in Glasgow and on par with anything Scotland has to offer. This garden stands out with its strong cultural links to its local history and to its local people. I love the Gabions with bricks from the old Tramway buildings filled with herbs.. The Victorian Chimney stands in all its glory as a link with our industrial past, pointing optimistically upwards - I've seen this garlanded with flowers at events before, sheer magic.
Hidden behind its close neighbours, the Tramway Theater with it's fab cafe and Scottish Ballet, this is an island of repose and relaxation. You can join in as a volunteer or take part in the many educational and fun events that happen here on a regular basis.

The mission statement reads:
"The Hidden Gardens Trust was established in 2005 and exists to promote sanctuary, peace and community cohesion at a local, national and international level. It aims to be a safe place of inspiration, celebration, learning and participation and, through the work that it does, to create trust, dialogue and understanding between people."
If that isn't a noble cause I don not know what is. Incidentally, it's a lovely wee greenspace.

Found this place while walking round. It may not be big like Queen's Park and others, however, this place has its own beauty. Must recommend if you are looking for place to relax for some time.

Unfortunately I visited this attraction on what will likely be the coldest day of the year. Everything was frozen in the gardens and we had a quick look round before going into the cafe for a very welcome pot of tea and bacon roll. There was ample space for children to run around and quiet spaces with books for them to read in the Tramway. I would like to go back in the spring and, if I do, I will review it accordingly and be more prepared for the weather.

I have just seen music on the lawn. A really relaxing place to listen to good music. The free mint tea was an added bonus.

This is a little gem of a place. Beautiful back garden, perfect for kids and lunch/coffee. We spent about an hour in the garden admiring the selection of plants and flowers.

On Albert Drive in Pollokshields, my goodness this is a place of calm and tranquillity. The Tramway Café provides good wholesome food. The Gardens are so restful. My Mum took my two girls there when they were young. The Memory Trees where you can leave your thoughts or messages are a lovely addition. We went back there in November sadly after my Mum's death and felt the same way we always did

A well kept urban garden. It has areas of wildflowers and many trees. There is a quiet spot to watch the birds feed as well as a reasonable lawn to relax in the sun or let your little ones run around a bit. It seems this garden is run mainly by volunteers and there is certainly a strong sense of community here. There is a large selection of herbs growing with some available for sale. It is a perfect spot for those who live locally who do not have access to a garden. However, if you are not a llocal visit anyway. Every community should have one of these.

I would recommend a visit to anyone ! Yes anyone! You might be interested in gardening, or in need of a calm moment, ( you WILL find it here!) You may feel like a gentle walk in a relaxed and interesting space, or wanting to experience nature in the city! I could go on!!!
Adults and children will love this exceptionally well cared for space! It's thoughtfully set out, encouraging interest, in the plants, trees, birds, bees etc . Volunteers are on hand to assist if required. Cuttings can be purchased of the excellent plants for a donation.
There is a great cafe in the Tramway, and you can sit at a table in the gardens and enjoy excellent fare, as you enjoy the surroundings.
The community use the garden so well. There are many events held here. We attended one today are really enjoyed the wonderful diversity . Live music, dancing, singing, food, facepainting, games etc all free.
You can also visit the Tramway too, where there are excellent exhibitions. Enjoy !!
