Well known landmark in Glasgow, separates the north and south side of High Street and the east end from the city centre. Not too much to see but it does give you your bearings and off course tells the time!

Slice of glasgows history. Interesting tower which has been preserved in its location. A good feature of the part where the merchant city meets the east end. Surrounded by busy crossings but interesting to look at.

The history of the steeple is interesting with many wrongdoers hanged to death. Good news, not used now!!! Use the local pub for more information. You will be warmly greeted with good food and drinks at reasonable prices. You can walk from herebto the Borrowlands. This area is steeped in history and old Glasgow memorabilia. It is walking distance from... More

Those who seek this remnant of the past are rewarded with a sense of history and a Kodak moment. To truly savour this architectural survivor, try the nearby Tolbooth pub, an Irish themed authentic Edwardian pub [est.1906] with great prices and a friendly clientele.

We used to walk past this in the morning to get to town from our hotel. Did not realise at first that this was place they use execute people from. More accurately make sure wrongdoers were well hung.

Historical site in Glasgow. The toolbooth is on the High Street at the far end of Argyll Street and is located on the spot where they used to hang bad uns many years ago.

I ran across references to the "Glasgow Cross" where the Tolbooth Steeple is located in various travel guides I looked through while planing our trip. We added it to our list of things to see and walked over from our hotel one evening. This is basically just a steeple on a traffic island where several streets meet. Very underwhelming. I... More

We stayed in an apartment which overlooked the clock tower and it certainly was a view with a difference!! Luckily they switch the chimes off overnight so we all got a good nights sleep. Apartment was well located for visiting the city with all attractions within an easy walking distance. Was impressed with the apartment overall and was better for... More
