Overview
More
The famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course at the Home of Golf. The bridge was originally built over 700 years ago so shepherds could move their flock across the Swilcan Burn which meanders through what is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Today the Swilcan Bridge, with the 'Auld Grey Toun' providing the most beautiful of backdrops, is one of the most iconic settings in golf. So much more than a little stone crossing, the Swilcan Bridge is the history of the game, it's the magic moments, it's felt the footsteps of the true greats.

Stop by for a view of history. Photos are best taken on Sundays when the Old Course is closed. Stop by The Jigger Inn afterwards.

In the summer after 7- 8 am you can take pictures with plenty of light without interferring with golfers coming up the 18th hole. The best photo spot in all of the UK..... I pone camers work great if there is enough light left -

The bridge is set as you finish the Old Course. A nice way to finish a round of golf! Passers-by can get a quick pic as well but not if the golfers are present.

The bridge is located a few steps from the road or seapath. Be sure to visit early or late in the day; fewer people and golfers. We had to wait a few minutes for someone to play through.

It is possible to get a photo on the Swilcan Bridge. We would however advise you to be extra careful when entering the course. Please be aware of the golfers playing off the 18th tee as, understandably, priority must be... More
