Not really a walk in the park but a very nice relaxing environment to spend some time. Even if the weather isn't great, there are several well stocked glasshouses with a wide range of specimens. The garden may not be the same scale as Edinburgh but it has plenty to see and the information is good, particularly the educational boards... More

The St Andrews Botanic Garden, located off the Canongate and just a few minutes walk from the town centre, is a truly wonderful place, staffed by charming people. The original Botanic Garden was created in 1889, but moved to its present location in 1960. It is owned by the University of S Andrews, leased to Fife Council for its maintenance... More

Thanks for your wonderful review. We are so appreciative when folks take the time to tell others so much about what they have enjoyed. Can I just add a small correction please? Entry is £5 for adults but completely FREE for children. Our visitor numbers are growing quickly and we have great activities for all, from expert gardeners and conservationists... More

Came across the gardens by accident on a wet Sunday afternoon but was pleasantly surprised at the variety of native and European plants displayed in the grounds and greenhouses. I spent an hour wandering around the lawn areas and glass houses, reading the interpretation boards though given the time of year floral displays were limited. However I will visit again... More

Accidentally found the Botanic gardens which turns out to be a little gem and value for money. Lovely grounds, shop and cafe plus excellent glass houses incorporating a huge range of plants. The staff obviously know their stuff and are very helpful. If you have the time I recommend visiting any time of year

We're members of the gardens so we love it anyway, but we went with our grandson age 4 during the summer and saw it through new eyes. He loved the gardens and the little different areas but the highlight was the children's activities in a greenhouse- drawing, making models etc, Very helpful staff and great ideas. Lunch at the picnic... More

We’ve been to St Andrew’s many, many times and never knew they had Botanic Gardens. Once owned by the council, they are now run by a group privately. Out a little from the town centre, they aren’t large, but very nice indeed. The hot houses/greenhouses are lovely - like a very small version of the Duthie Park Winter Gardens we... More

We wanted to do something on a day off and decided to stop here. I'd never been before, even though I'd lived in the area for 7 years. The woman was very welcoming when I arrived and talked through the gardens. It was a cold day but still a nice walk round, and the last of the autumnal colours could... More

I loved the botanic garden ergo the butterflies go every where they even land on you, the man at the butterfly house gives you lots of facts the one I remember is that butterflies like food rotten, the more the rotten the more the... When we were at St.Andrews we went to the Botanical Gardens to see butterflies and plants. At first it felt a bit weird because the butterflies were fluttering all around me, some people got butterflies on their arms, legs and even.........HEAD!!! Luckily I didn't get any butterflies on me! We also saw lots of plants, including the vannilla plant, banana... More
