Description:

A golfing Mecca for the most accomplished golfer to the enthusiastic...

A golfing Mecca for the most accomplished golfer to the enthusiastic amateur, a trip to St Andrews Links is one which realises the ultimate dream for golfers worldwide. From the iconic Swilcan Bridge on the Old Course to Tom Morris’s masterful architecture on the New Course, St Andrews Links has developed over 600 years to become one of the most famous locations in golf. Perhaps most fascinating however, is the fact that all seven courses at St Andrews Links are public and open to everyone. St Andrews Links is the largest public golfing complex in Europe. From the terrifying sight of Hell Bunker on the Old Course to the gentle slopes of the Balgove, the Home of Golf has become the ultimate golfing destination for all ages and abilities. The three championship courses; the Old Course, New Course and Jubilee Course run parallel to each other along the famous St Andrews Links West Sands of St Andrews. Nestled on the opposite side of the Links are the Eden, Strathtyrum and the only nine hole course, the Balgove. A five minute drive from town is the seventh course, the award winning Castle Course which offers dramatic views over St Andrews from its spectacular cliff top location. Away from the course, explore the fantastic facilities St Andrews Links has to offer. Learn the game where it was first played at the St Andrews Links Golf Academy. The Academy offers first-class tuition from PGA-Qualified St Andrews Links professionals and is home the only Callaway Performance Centre (custom-fit) in Scotland. The driving range has over 60 bays, including 22 indoors, and a landing zone which is over 400 yards long. All mats are air cushioned, and five bays include the Power Tee automated system. There is short game area, which includes a replica of Road Bunker, and a putting green, once the second on the Eden Course and regarded as one of the finest in St Andrews. Shop our fantastic range of official merchandise from our five retail stores, the Old Course Shop, the 18th Green Shop, the Links Clubhouse Shop, the Castle Course shop and the oldest golf shop in the world – Tom Morris. Finally relax in the Swilcan Restaurant in the Links Clubhouse, The Eden Clubhouse or the Castle Course Clubhouse with a wee dram as you reflect on your visit to the Home of Golf.

Most people will tell you of course that St.Andrews is the home of golf. If any Americans are reading this, this is where it all began on Scotlands old course. Whilst the Open championship will get played and course gets used for what its for there is a little known fact. The course is not privately owned. Yep, that's right... More

Went for an anniversary meal in the Road Hole Restaurant. Sat at the window, fantastic views and food very good. The experience deteriorated during desert. It was a saturday night and not terribly late. I can't remember the time exactly but still prior to 10pm. Staff started setting up for breakfast which seemed to spoil the atmosphere. When desert was... More

My husband and I regularly visit to enjoy a relaxing lunch. Food is served quickly to your table by the attentive staff making for a relaxing lunch. The menu caters for all tastes and you can just have soup or a starter if you don't want the large main course. The child portion of fish and chips and a glass... More

If you are a Golfer and you have not played at the Links then you are not a Golfer. No words can describe the feeling the emotion of playing the Old Course.

Yes St Andrews famous golf course is an actual public park. You are free to walk around but beware of flying balls. Look before you step onto the fairways. Didn't get a chance to play but we will someday. The town is lovely with lots of shops and restaurants and museums. Walk on the beach where Chariots of Fire was... More

This is the place to visit if you are a golf enthusiast. The home of golf, plenty of photo opportunities and plenty of shops nearby. The courses themselves are not as dear as you would think to play on but book a tee well in advance because its very busy. And if the rest of the family hate golf there's... More

Not much to be added to the millions of words written about the Royal and Ancient but here is a tip. The course is closed on Sundays and the citizens of St Andrews (including visitors) are allowed to walk on the course and take a picture on the most famous bridge in golf. It's a fabulous experience for golfers and... More

Not sure what I expected, but somehow, I felt let down when I stepped up to edge of the Old Course and took my first glimpse. The sun was shinning and there was no rain but the wind! And landscape is flat and appears rather barren and frankly uninteresting to me. Now I will admit I did not play the... More

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We're sorry your trip to St Andrews Links didn't live up to expectations. There are a number of ways to play the Old Course with green fees starting from £88. If you're a golf fan and come back to visit us again we'd recommend playing our courses for the full Links experience. If golf isn't... More
