Interesting story about Hamish - shame you cannot buy the book in town or make a donation maybe to an animal
Charity in his honour.

A beautiful story and a fine tribute to this much liked cat. We didn't know about it until we found it by passing by.

Well, I must’ve been living under a rock ( or failing that I’m just not in with the cool cats ) - but I knew absolutely nothing about this cat Hamish prior to seeing this quirky bronze statue of him. Having googled his history, it seems he was a very independent , friendly & free-spirited feline , who lived in the town for 13 years, and was “well-kent “ and well loved by the locals. He’d worked out how to use zebra crossings, and had his rota of favourite friends, shops and pubs to visit. Not only that, but he was very distinctive looking , with a shaggy ginger coat & striking green eyes , and became quite a celebrity because of his endearing personality. When he went to cat heaven, a local newspaper headed a campaign to raise money to erect this touching memorial for him. Lovely story.

I love the story of Hamish because I think he’s very cool. I love that when you touch his tail you get good luck!

This is a purrfect tribute to Hamish Mchamish who was well known throughout St Andrews. Unfortunately there isn't any information on the statue so you have to use google or buy the book. It would be nice if they added a little plaque to it but it's worth stopping by to see him.

This local celebrity cat has been immortalised in bronze since 2014 (had to look this up online as there was no info about him on the plinth). He was the star of a book named after him which told the stories of his daily exploits and nomadic life around the town.

We stumbled upon this statue of Hamish. We know nothing about him but he evidently made a name for himself. A wonderful piece of sculpture and a moving tribute to Hamish, who must have been an amazing cat

I am sad that I never got to meet Hamish , he sounded like such a character. Seeing this statue was lovely.. It is a wonderful tribute to him. If you go on to Amazon, you can buy the Hamish McHamish: Legend of St Andrews book by Susan McMullan; the book is full of photos and tales of Hamish. He really was much loved. I think it is fantastic that there is a statue dedicated to this lovely boy

Statue of the well known and popular local cat that lived to roam about St. Andrews. I Hamish on TV, but I never got to see him in real life. This is a great tribute to a great cat and lighter side to life.

We just happened upon this statue while walking around St. Andrews. We were curious and found out more about Hamish. We love cats and in the past have had some for beloved pets. It was so nice to read about this famous cat and the kindness from stangers, that he experienced in his travel about town.
