Top ways to experience Edinburgh Farmers' Market and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.

Extortionate prices for produce totally lacking in flavour. Punnet of strawbs, 3 tomatoes for just under £8. One of the tomatoes had gone to mush by the time I got it home & the strawberries ended lots of sugar they were so tart. Hadn’t been for a while & now I remember why. Won’t be returning.

Great market located in the NCP Castle terrace carpark, visited Saturday at 9am. It gets very popular. We bought some locally produced lamb and beef and both were delicious. Definitely try the haggis and black pudding sausage roll!

Not a large market but has a good range of businesses & products, lovely location next to the castle and well arranged. Certainly worth a visit for both locals & tourists.

This is not one of the largest farmers markets, but it is pretty cool. Lots to see. Lots of people. Lots of food.

There are numerous Farmers Markets in Edinburgh, but the Market on Castle Terrace is my favorite. Good variety of stalls. Excellent selection of goods. A tasty lunch can be enjoyed from more than one vendor. Open Saturdays from 9:00am til 2:00pm. I visit every Saturday when in Edinburgh. Definitely worth visiting.

I love farmers markets, and this one did not disappoint. There were probably 20 vendors, so it was fairly small. But there were a lot of organics and a good variety - prepared food, organic butchers, 2 organic farms, oils, soaps, and coffee. If you're nearby, it's definitely worth a visit. It's probably not worth a special trip. But the location at the base of the castle was lovely.

Very lovely farmer’s market with tons of organic fruits and vegetables. Good prepared food, too. I went expecting to get something to cook for dinner, but left with delicious berries and my lunch. Plus, it’s got Edinburgh Castle as its backdrop - you can’t lose!

We came across Edinburgh Farmers' Market by chance while walking around the park. And what a Market it was! Lots of food to satisfy just about any old fusspot! There was a large variety of items to buy or taste and the prices were not so bad either. Also the views all around were lovely. It was a real surprise and it made our day that much more exciting. Worth a visit if you happen to be near on Market day.

Went morning we were leaving Edinburgh to see what it was like, fab local farmers market, at least 30 stalls selling a wide variety of produce, from shortbread, bread, baked goods, jams, butter, meats, etc etc.
Wished we had one of these near me.
Highly recommend, would have loved to buy more but didn't have room in luggage,
