quiet walkway in Edinburgh that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Instead of taking the bus or the streets from Leith to the botanic gardens, we took the Water of Leith Walkway - very nice!

On previous trips to Edinburgh, we had visited Dean Village, passed the sign for the Water of Leith Walkway, but never ventured down the trail. This time we actually managed to make part of the Walk and were bowled over by the interesting views and...More

A very pleasant green walkway along the river of Leith. If you like walking, you can start with Dean’s gardens, visit Edinburgh royal botanic garden and then continue with Water of Leith. Impressive views. The sound of running clear water makes relaxed. Many beautiful butterflies,...More

It was a lovely summer's day in July. We walked from Stockbridge Market, past Dean Gardens to Dean Village, all the way to Roseburn Terrace. From there we cut across to go through The Meadows, before making our way back to Edinburgh Old Town. Dean...More

This walk is definitely worth taking. This is truly beautiful and one of the best views I think Edinbrough has to offer, Granted we seemed to have the weather on our side and I'm not sure if it would have been the same on a...More

Walked all around Roseburn and the water of Leith to the Galaxy of Modern Art. Not busy apart from the occasional dog walkerwalker and safe as no bikes unlike other areas of Edinburgh. A wee bit muddy in places so decent shoes needed and dependant...More

Took the number 44 bus from Princes Street to Slateford. Purchased a map at the visitor centre and the walked the 7 odd miles to the sea at Leith. It was glorious. Tantalising raspberries beyond reach at the allotments at Sauchton, Murrayfield stadium, a small...More

On a sunny (and warm) day in August my sister and I walked from Dean Village to Leith on the Water of Leith Walkway. It is truly a pleasant, often beautiful, and peaceful divergence from the active city life of Edinburgh. The walkway does venture...More

The stretch from the Modern Art gallery to Dean village is not too long and very pretty and then you can go back into the city quite easily!

Yes there is. The walkway ends in Leith (next to a multitude of bars and restaurants) and you can access the city centre at Haymarket or Stockbridge. Both are a short walk into the city and signposted
