This is a difficult review to do. While this shop is an institution in Edinburgh, I got the feeling that they cultivate their aura very well. The old bottles, wooden cases, hand written signs, dust on the bottles, old casks...all seems a wee bit staged....More

Can I give this place six dots? What an awesome little bottling shop. If you are there on a night when they do a tasting, GO. You get to taste some really unique bottlings, and you can bring home with you all sorts of whisky,...More

Only reason or thing we did in town and it was worth the trip. Only regret is we didn't buy more/ship home more. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff.

Hopefully I have your attention and you chose to read this. I reserved the tasting and as a scotch snob it was GREAT. You get 6 tastings from an entertaining fellow from campbeltown (sorry I forgot your name). I learned about David Beckham (inside joke)...More

I went to this shop with my girlfriend. I needed some help for the authentic collection of Cadenhead's. Because I like peated single malts and even I know about original bottlings I know less about independent bottlers. The tall guy with brown wavy hair helped...More

I am so glad I started off my trip to Edinburgh and Scotland with a booked tasting at Cadenhead's! Josh was great in giving us information both about Cadenhead's and whisky more generally. The info made all us appreciate and ask better questions at distilleries...More

What a find! They let you taste and buy straight out of the casks here. Then you get a custom label for your bottle. They offer 3 sizes. This make a great momento or gift. Staff was very helpful.

Best place for artisanal (and others) whiskies in Edinburgh! Definitely worth spending one or two hours in this place.

This shop specializes in independent bottling of single malt scotch. What the means is that you have access to a lot of whisky that doesn't normally make its way to the public, especially abroad. The staff was amazingly helpful. Because they bottle the scotch, there...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

When my husband and I visited their store last year we did a private tasting you can do after store hours (you have to reserve a spot though). Unfortunately, I forgot how much it was per person. We were able to taste 6 types... More
