First visit to the Queen’s Hall. We were in the gallery which was ideal. Noticed that some of the seats downstairs were side facing (pews) which would not be ideal for viewing the stage. Plenty of on street parking in surrounding streets. It appears you can park almost anywhere in this area after 6:30pm

Love going to gigs here, not a bad seat in the house with good acoustics. Seats are a bit hard but worth it. Well stocked bar as well with a good selection of beers.

Overall this is a good alround venuue but it depends on where you get seated We attended the Wilko Johnston gig and the show as expected was terrific and acoustics were between average and good to me. Bar is ok, £4 for a pint of draught larger/cider in a plastic glass is normal at small venues. Staff are very pleasant... More

What a great night... A big group of middle aged people reliving their youth with Lloyd Cole (without the Commotions). Good venue, great acoustics, bloody brilliant artist. Loved it! I'll sign up to their newsletter and be back.

Staff are well equipt to deal with anything disability wise and rowdy audience wise. They have one left handed toilet for disabled.

The Queen's Hall is a busy concert venue and I can't believe the shoddy way the audience was treated before the recent Beverley Knight concert. We were informed it was standing and seating and came early but were not prepared for the performance we encountered. They opened the doors and we queued in a corridor. Just in front of me... More

We attended a jazz concert at the Queen's Hall and found it ideal for that type of more intimate performance - which would have been lost in a large auditorium. The interior of the church has been subtly altered to suit performances, so retains most of its original features. The supporting columns for the balcony area are relatively narrow and... More

A good venue for concerts. A little bit out from the main drag, but still walkable. It seems to have been a church at some stage so try and avoid the "pew style" seats whish are around the venue as they are not particularly comfortable.. There are plenty of seats usually on the floor.

Very unprepossessing but great, small venue with great sound. Staff are helpful. Never more than 25 metres from stage.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
