Pros: 1. Standard hop on-hop off advantage of being able to use the bus multiple times and for 24hrs 2. Box office service is great and professional. Cons: 1. The guide was hard to understand and was making a bit inappropriate jokes at times. 2. It would be great if the bus could have wifi for tourists. Would not cost... More

Informative and entertaining. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the local history and stories and brought the whole experience to life. Great stories about R.L Stevenson's childhood too. Loved every moment and it is a great way to find out more about a city. Can recommend without reservation!

For our senior rate of fourteen pounds for 24 hours, this proved an excellent way to see and get around the city. On this tour, one learns some of the history of the city and people like J.K. Rowling and Sean Connery and real historical figures. We had to pick up our tickets for the military tattoo and the bus... More

With only a limited time in Edinburgh (1 day) we decided to try the bus tour. We love city breaks and always use the buses as a way of exploring. You often see sights you wouldn't get chance to walk to. We weren't disappointed, the tour is reasonably priced and there is a discount for OAPs which my parents liked... More

Great introductory tour of Edinburgh with headphone commentary, also shown on screen (lower deck at least) for hard of hearing. Plenty of leg room - a nice change. Tip: Join at Waverley station or at a v popular stop, eg Castle, or you might find that the bus is full and you can't get on.

This is the best way to get round! £22 per person for 4 bus tours for 48 hours, two of the tours have live commentary and it gives you 10% off most other attractions!!!

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
