Edinburgh Zoo is set in 82 acres of sloping parkland and is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. It is home to over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, including chimpanzees, sun bears, Indian Rhinos, the UK's only koalas and the first Giant Pandas in the UK for 17 years. You can experience a busy programme of educational events and activities from keeper talks to hands-on animal encounters. There is also a wide-range of eating experiences, several play areas and a fantastic gift shop.Viewing for the Giant Pandas is free but ticketed.(Included with entry fee) To avoid disappointment we are advising all visitors to pre-book their tickets through our website to guarantee viewing. Panda viewing tickets must be booked at the same time as you buy your entry ticket.

A great day out!

Plenty to do and look at. Lots for little ones to do and plenty of places to rest. A little pricey to get in, the food was average and expensive! Can get cold so wrap up

Wonderful zoo with large enclosures. Good talks throughout the day and very informative about conservation. Luckily one panda was awake for our viewing slot! Make sure you get there and early in the day as you can spend hours there!

Great day out even though ours was a windy February one. Pandas are of course the main attraction as are the only ones in the UK, as is the koala i think but make sure you visit the tigers as their new enclosure is great and the walk just above you

Pandas were amazing and very organised with time slots to view. However a lot of the enclosures and paths were closed for refurbishment and lots of enclosures appeared to be empty or animals hiding. Also only central area for food open. Both of these could because of time of year (cold February day) but this should be reflected in the... More

Kids loved it and as a family that's all that matters. Yes the gradiante is steep so good walking boots are helpful. Overall a great day out. Favorites were the chimps, sun bears, penguins and obviously the giant pandas, of which we luckily got to see both. Recommend atleast 4-5hrs to see everything at a steady pace but could easily... A lovely informative day out, I would recommend going early and joining the various talks that occur throughout the day. James who carried out many of the talks was full of answers to any questions that people had, he was very friendly!

Loved our little vidt to the zoo , would like to visit in season to fully appreciate it, disspointed some of the walk through exhibits were closed but safety first for the animals. Big tip take a buggy if you can as its very steep all over the zoo

Wide range of animals, lovely pandas! I study animal management as was really happy to see well enriched enclosures with plenty of space allowing the animals to love as naturally as possible! Staff were very informative about the animals and also very friendly! Will visit again when next in Edinburgh! Was slightly worried about the pacing Sumatran Tiger but there... More

The Zoo grounds are quite hilly so be prepared to do a lot of walking but the animals look well cared for and there is a lot of information around the exhibits for those wanting to know more.

I was a little disappointed. Most of the animals appeared to have a lot of room however there are a couple of enclosures that do appear on the small size. Also when we arrived there was a tiger pacing back and forth, not sure if this was normal. There are various points to eat and picnic tables around the zoo... More
