Edinburgh Zoo is set in 82 acres of sloping parkland and is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. It is home to over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, including chimpanzees, sun bears, Indian Rhinos, the UK's only koalas and the first Giant Pandas in the UK for 17 years. You can experience a busy programme of educational events and activities from keeper talks to hands-on animal encounters. There is also a wide-range of eating experiences, several play areas and a fantastic gift shop.Viewing for the Giant Pandas is free but ticketed.(Included with entry fee) To avoid disappointment we are advising all visitors to pre-book their tickets through our website to guarantee viewing. Panda viewing tickets must be booked at the same time as you buy your entry ticket.

We came here just to see the beautiful display of Lantern. The lanterns are beautifully crafted and the display was amazing. It’s a good family outing as well. For visitors wear winter clothings as it’s cold up here.

Stayed in Edinburgh over Christmas and the only thing open (that wasn't fully booked) on Christmas Day was Zoo! It was open 10-1pm which was enough time to go around and see all the enclosures and ideal as it wasn't very busy. I loved how...More

I particularly love the talks by the keepers, most of ours were by Tom, he was very good indeed and we learned a lot. Lovely red pandas, Sumatra tiger and, my favourite, the primates.

Visited this zoo out of season to see the Giant Pandas and we did not leave disapointed. Out of season you can see the pandas when ever you would like and high season you are required to get a viewing slot. The zoo has the...More

Location was on a hill. To see each habitat you needed to hike up the hill. Some parts was steep. Most animals was inside or sleeping so you see a empty enclosure. The penguin parade was just one penguin willing to walk out of it's...More

Hi, snow is likely and the area around the zoo very icy so I’d probably not risk it myself. Some animals will be out but you can’t book to see giant pandas at present. If you’re brave wrap up very warm as the zoo is pretty... More

There are a number of bus services that stop at the zoo, just depends on where your starting point is. If its the city centre you can hop on a 31, 26,12 or 100.
