Quite a trendy, so quite tame and posy night spot, just away from Edinburghs buzzing Rose Street, one saving grace for this place, and what actually would make you want to visit is the design of the building, and its spectacular decor, and you can get drunk while admiring this too, and have a laugh at the posers!

Don't particularly rate The Dome although I haven't been there recently. Probably still a good venue for drinks as it's bright and airy and quite buzzy.

Not only did this little, out of the way art museum have the haunted quality of being housed in the oldest residence in Olde Towne, the art itself contained a deeply spiritual aspect that really touched me. The use of symbolism and the modern take on medieaval style drew me up and up the stair and had me lingering overlong... More

DOM is a unique art gallery in the oldest existing residential building in Edinburgh. Down a narrow and charming alley off "The Royal Mile" to enter it is to enter another world, a world of very talented and interesting paintings, sculpture, art glass, and other objects, united primarily by a particular vision of the metaphysical aspects of art. Each step... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
