The tour itself is a ghost. We were booked on the 8pm tour several days in advance, left an email address and two contact numbers. On the evening of the tour we made dinner reservations around the tour and came back from a day trip...More

We had a great time with the Vaults and Graveyard tour (we think our guide was Darren, but don't remember for sure). He had the right level of historical context and spooky stories for our group. I appreciated that there was a lot of respect...More

We went on the Haunted Underground Tour on a Friday evening. Whilst it was interesting to hear some of the stories surrounding the underground vaults there wasn't enough in them to hold much interest. Didn't really need the tools of torture exhibition at the beginning....More

Wasn't really sure what to expect but was really impressed with the tour! We learned a lot and especially with the groupon deal it was well worth the money (although my boyfriend was a bit nervy about the potential spiders!) Thank you Esther for a...More

Probably the scariest (scary) tour I've done. We went for the terror tour and it did exactly what it said on the tin. Interesting and concise history to the old town itself before heading into the vaults for the main tour. Our tour guide Darren...More

We did the vaults and graveyard tour. Guide was excellent and very entertaining. Learnt some historical facts as well as being entertained with the ghost stories. This tour does involve a fair bit of walking and the steps in the vaults would be a challenge...More

Our guide was very knowledgable, but his disdain for most things colored his storytelling. Actually, he wasn't a great story teller, he just had a memorized script. But if you asked him an off book question this is where his disdain for all things tourist...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I wouldn't recommend that anyone that has trouble with extremely uneven stairs go down under the city in the tunnels for this tour.

Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be... More
