I don't know what we expected, but we knew we wanted to take a Ghost Tour of Edinburgh. We couldn't have been luckier than to have EWAN as our guide. He is truly a gifted storyteller as well as a brilliant historian of all things...More

My wife and I enjoyed this wee tour. I say wee because it's limited to 3 overground vaults, but they are atmospheric and our guide Esther was great at whipping up the chills, with stories of their history. She imparted a good oversight of Edinburghs...More

Really enjoyed the Auld Reekie tours. Our guide suited the role brilliantly and was very entertaining (I think her name was Christel??). My partner and I aren't really believers in ghosts or superstitions but the history and stories were brilliant and excellently told. Would recommend...More

Recently attended Auld Reekie Tours with Freshers, was enough to make my skin crawl loved our tour guide Ewan who was definitely outstanding and fabulous. His sense of humour was impeccable and definitely knew his facts about the vaults. Creepy and very satisfying , excellent...More

As a second choice from going on the Mary Kings Close tour (because they were sold out) we went on the "ghost tour" with this tour group. Although it is an hour long, you spend the first 35 minutes listening to a half-true history lesson...More

Did the haunted underground tour. I will preface this by saying that I didn't really have issues with the guide, or the fact that the vaults aren't what you would consider 'underground' in the typical sense. My issue was just that this tour was so...More

We booked an "underground tour" and we knew in advance that it meant the vaults under the street, not actually underground. (Which a lot of reviewers complain about! - the guide explained this beforehand!) Our guide was Euan aka The Duchess and he was funny...More

We went on the vaults and graveyard tour. Was really interesting. But we didn't see a graveyard. Fair bit of up and down walking, but terrific. Tour guide was very good.

Our guide Esther was very informative and provided our group with a gruesome insight to Edinburgh's dark past. We went on their standard day tour that visited three of the rooms deep 'underground'. Would recommend for all ages and Esther's 'lights out' conclusion definitely sends...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I wouldn't recommend that anyone that has trouble with extremely uneven stairs go down under the city in the tunnels for this tour.

Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be... More
