We booked this during the Edinburgh Fringe but got it using Tesco clubcard. The cost was £12 but using the clubcard vouchers we only paid £2 each. The woman who did the terror and torture tour was really nice and although her tour was only...More

We chose the underground tour because we wanted a general tour of the vaults, without the "spooky" stories, but what we got was quite different from what was promised. The tour was NOT underground, the vaults are in a building and you have to climb...More

Did the "underground" tour, it was the same as going into somebody's cellar. We did all of fifty yards walking, that bit was interesting, not the pseudo "scary" stories and badly delivered anecdotes of the guide. It was so bad it was funny by the...More

We did two tours in two days - terror tour and Graveyard. While there were some similarities between the two, the variance was enough to still be interesting and fun on both occasions. Esther, our guide, was knowledgeable and fun. Not only was this entertaining...More

The vaults themselves are fascinating and quite spooky but we weren't particularly impressed with the tour itself. The tour guide spoke in a very disjointed way, flitting from story to story, veering off at tangents and then repeating things we'd already heard. When they stuck...More

Went on the underground vaults tour on 21/07 with friends. Very disappointed. Tour guide was from Latvia & had only been in the country for 2 weeks!! Not very knowledgable (how could she be?), no atmosphere & spoke very quietly. She needed help from the...More

We booked onto the Terror Tour whilst out on the Royal Mile during the day, having previously enjoyed the City of the Dead tour with another operator - booking was easy via the information desk at the Royal Mile Market building. Our guide Darren was...More

I managed to visit this twice in a few days. I loved it. Without mentioning names i met a lovely host from latvia who was very informative and she was a great host. 👍 Hope she is around in the future. Dan.

Having done an underground vaults tour with another operator, I booked this for my friend and her kids and my family. Total waste of money. We couldn't hear the guide to start with, despite having booked and paid in advance, we still had to go...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I wouldn't recommend that anyone that has trouble with extremely uneven stairs go down under the city in the tunnels for this tour.

Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be... More
