Really a lovely building, if a bit of a maze. Staff were pleasant. Ate in the cafe, which was nothing special food wise but had a nice view of the city.

A hallmark of shopping in Edinburg. Went to their cafe for lunch and stayed for some shopping. Good service, happy salespeople great location and recalls the heyday of department stores.

Well just been in today to treat myself and the lovelly lady at the tom ford counter was fantastic, every time i go its like making new friends what a truly fabulous way of doing business, other large stores would do well to take a leaf out of their book !!!!!!

Staff very helpful and friendly. Christmas tree and displays in the main area are beautiful but in terms of the lines and items available it's not as good as selfridges.

On grabbing a quick snack here today I was disappointed to be given a cheese scone which was supposed to be freshly baked but was brick hard. Shame on you Jenners! Your standards have obviously slipped !

This is a House of Frasier store, but go indoors and look up at the wood work that still remains from when it was built. It's positively delightful. You have plenty to look at and buy. The cafe and restaurant are if a high standard. You can even sit and enjoy afternoon tea whilst looking across at the castle. You... More

Stopped off here on a recommendation for a nice coffee with a view. Not to be confused with cafe on another floor. This is the restaurant part, nice decor nice coffee and cakes and a nice view if you get table by the window.

What a pleasure to find a true old-fashioned department store, in a beautiful building, with decent prices unlike some counterparts in other places.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
