Fantastic engineering of the wheel and surrounding park with lots of fun for children of all ages.short bike ride to the kelpies,bike hire in the park,approx 45 mins to kelpies and park there with cafes etc.Excellent day out.Excellent train service from Edinburgh then a taxi or bus to the Falkirk Wheel.

Great place for adults and kids alike. You can just sit and relax and watch the amazing boat lift or pay to experience it first hand.

We rented from ABC boat hire and spent 6 days going 64 miles on the Union canal. Truly worth it in spite of the smallish RV like character of the boat interior and the mold... :-). There are decent shower facilities along the way if you dont want to use the cramped boat showers and I recommend that. Ourselves and... More

We rented a narrow boat from Falkirk, took it to Edinburgh and stayed 3 nights in the Lochrin basin. It was very convenient for us being centrally located and near several major bus routes. The engineering marvel was very enjoyable to experience "the lift". Actually pretty amazing canal experience. Everyone on our tour enjoyed this experience.
