There are basically 3-bus tours with open top busses. The Edinburgh Tour on a 'Green' bus has a live commentary on the way round; the City Sightseeing Tour is on a 'Red' bus and has a recorded commentary, including a 'Horrible Histories' one for children - young and old! The 3rd tour is the Majestic Tour and visits a little... More

We booked all four bus trips, this including the 3 Bridge Bus and Boat tour; this being the highlight. We found the bus tours informative and gave us a great start for places to hop-off and explore. Was glad we chose the package with all tours, however they did get a little repetitive as some tours at points were following... More

The bus tour starts outside Waverley Station in the centre of Edinburgh. This is a very easy way to see the city and hop on and off at all the historic locations. The recorded tour guide provides some interesting information on what you are seeing and the open top deck of the bus provides wonderful views. For new tourists to... More

Beautiful views of Edinburgh from the open top bus with the opportunity to get on and off at the attractions you wish to visit. The guides on the bus give a very interesting and informative commentary as you travel round this wonderful city.

live informative commentary on the 'Edinburgh tour' bus which was £15 for an adult ticket that is valid for 24 hours with the freedom to hop on or off at any of the stops on the route. I would recommend visiting the Georgian house on Charlotte square if you like periodic step back in time.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
