Was only in Edinburgh for the day, so the bus tour was a good way to see the city, you can jump of and on as much as you like and your tickets are valid for 24 hours. Its was also nice to get some interesting information about Edinburgh.

It only takes an hour, but it's hop-on hop-off, so we ended up extending our pass for 48 hours and trying all THREE SEPARATE buses. Our favorite was the yellow/green bus that has a live guide. We had 5 different guides over the 2 days, and each had different but fascinating takes on the city. With the history of those... More

A really good idea particularly if you are only here a short time. We found it useful to get our boys to have a rest as well. One of the buses has horrible histories audio guide which was also good. Very interesting and on the top of the bus you get to see all the sights and take some good... More

Great to get your bearings and learn a bit about the city before you set off on foot, we paid £20 and could use all 3 tour buses for 24hrs, we should have paid £22 for 48hrs great way to get around

We took one of the tours around the Old Town and the New Town. It was great, Joy, the commentator, was very informative and friendly. Excellent way to see our Capitol city.

Not the warmest tour I've ever taken but you can sit inside the bus if you prefer. The whole experience is better however sitting upstairs in the open air. The commentary is informative and often amusing and there are recommendations on other places to visit. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Alisolsen thank you so much for your lovely comments about our team, they will be delighted. I'm glad you braved upstairs for the best views, it can be chilly but definitely worth it. Thank you for recommending us so highly here. With best wishes Elaine More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
