Went to see the million. Ended up seeing £2 million. Nice wee museum, free so good to spend some time in. Few activities for kids to do while adults read the boring stuff.

You will never forget your first sight of a million pounds!! A very interesting and worthwhile place to visit. Go when it's quite out of season, as its lots of small rooms inside so could get crowded. Very friendly welcome on the door, and lots of knowledgable people to ask questions about things. You must try the safe..we managed to... More

Probably the nicest welcome I have ever had! I was welcomed at the door by a friendly face and to be honest had learned so much by the time we left the entrance that I wondered if I need still go in! Not a huge museum but they really pack it with interesting facts and things to do. Any age... More

This is a good museum and we spent 45 minutes taking in the exhibits. The museum is free to enter and is worth visiting if you have an hour to spare.

Happily spent an hour here today. Museum has a focus on money, especially through HBOS group who I guess operate it. It's free to enter and all shop proceeds go to Children in Need too. Very warm welcome from a suited greeter, kids were offered a guide/activity book to complete as they went round for which there was no charge.... More

This is a good free museum and allows you to use up some time. It is not ideal for older children and probably better for younger ones. They can have an activity book which is good for the younger ones. My older children were still entertained for a short period, they were able to crack the code to a safe... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
