We went to Lochness from Edinburgh with a bus , and we had about 12 hours fantastic time with Laura . She managed to keep us awake with interesting stories about kings and queens, about batlles in Scotland and Highlands. The route was enchanting with a view of nature and high mountains, lakes and waterfalls!

I loved the Timberbush tour! We took the Loch Ness tour (whole day out from 8a.m to 20:30H) although the hotel concierge told us it was not worth it, we LOVED it! WE were in Edinburgh for four days and we spent one doing the Loch Ness Tour which we thought it was a MUST! Wonderful planning and the Tour... More

We took the Isle of Skye tour. It was excellently executed by the tour guide. He was very informative and explained everything during our tour. His driving was fine too. The tour took us to Eilean Donan Castle, Dunvegan Castle, Fort William, Portree, Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and Mealt Waterfalls, Lochness, Fort Augustus etc. We made good friends on... More

We enjoyed the tour with our driver Rose and the area and places we went through very much. Rose told us lots of historical facts about Scotland while we were on our drive. It was very interesting and good to understand, even for a non-native speaker. The cruise at Loch Lomond was nice, too. Definitely recommend!

He talked about everyplace with historical stories and responded to all our questions. I had also a 1 day excursion (West Highland Lochs, Mountains & Castles) and... More

Four of us took the Loch Ness tour yesterday. The coach was comfortable and clean. Laura, our driver/guide did an excellent job of driving and providing very interesting historical information to us throughout the tour. And she played very nice music in between her commentary. The scenery was stunning. Our stops were well chosen. We took the optional tour to... More

My family of 4 (kids ages 11 and 14) enjoyed this tour. Great stops and lots to see. Our tour guide Eric was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only reason I'm not giving 5 starts is because the volume of the speakers in the bus cannot be adjusted. We sat in the back and it was really loud! Eric tried... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
