We have been visiting the Edinburgh/North Berwick area for a number of years and always try to incorporate some walking on the John Muir Way, even though today had gale force winds it was still nice to walk along the coast on an excellent pathway.

My wife and I have recently completed the East Lothian section of the John Muir Way,mee did in four sections over a few months. The great thing about the walk is that it's easy to do in sections using public transport. We broke the walk down into the following section: 1. From our house in Edinburgh to Seton Sands (bus... Repeatedly we walked on John Muir way (not all in once but in pieces). We really like this coastal path as it is great in many places.

My wife and I came to Dunbar and found this beautiful walk quite by accident, and we were impressed (and felt it a wise decision not to spend another day in Edinburgh). We felt so relaxed walking by the sea, admiring the volcanic rock formations, and resting on the various beaches. We even spotted two seals floating for fun for... More

Walked from Helensburgh to Dunbar over 8 days. An amazing trail. Used the John Muir way baggage transfer service with Steve Higson and I agree with the last reviewer that he was great. Would recommend getting the rucksack readers book as this was very helpful. All the towns were great. Would recommend staying at the Orocco pier hotel in S... More

This part of the way is designed to start at Presonpans, but I wanted to start with a bit shorter walk and Longniddry worked well, the train station was an easy 1/2 mile from the trail marker. (To get to the trail head follow the sign to Aberlady A198 straight ahead not the one that points right toward N. Berwick... More

We walked 15 mile along route 76, from Bo'ness to Abercorn Church ( 3.5 miles from South Queensferry) beautiful scenery on this route, and it was great weather, we could see across the forth to Rosyth and North Queensferry. Great views of the three bridges. We stopped at Blackness Castle and had our picnic, and on the way back we... More

We carried our own packs, maybe a bad idea!? We stayed @ B&Bs as close to the Way as I could arrange. This was a wonderful way to traverse Scotland and see many of the historical sites, as well as the natural beauty.

Another beautiful walk at Tyninghame Beach. Wide open golden sands and blue skies made better by the fact that unlike other East Lothian beach walks, it was virtually empty. It is a great pity that East Lothian has decided to spoil this experience and discouraging the public to be healthy and take advantage of the landscape, by charging to park.... More
