Broughty Castle on the bank of the River Tay is well preserved, which is rare in Scotland where most castles are ruinous following centuries of battles, especially with the English neighbours. Inside is a museum set up over four floors. It depicts the history of...More

It's always a pleasure to visit the Ferry. There are several good cafes for lunch or brunch which we enjoyed on this occasion. It's a pleasant wee place for a wander round the shops and great if you are looking for a wee present for...More

We were quite surprised that entry was free to the castle and grounds. The castle enjoys a great location on the banks of the Tay Estuary overlooking the old train ferry harbour. The highlight is the gallery containing some of Orchar collection of Victorian paintings,...More

Tiny, but absolutely paccked with fabulous local history and a great place to get out of the rain. You can cast your mind back a few hundred years and marvel at the very brave hardy men who manned the castle during turbulent times

Super little castle, loads of interesting stuff and the staff were obviously passionate about their subject. This must be a terrific place for local schools etc. We thought it was great.

This may be a bit out of the way but it has a lot of local history to tell about the early days protection from invading forces and why the castle exists. Also check out why the area is called Broughty Ferry - when you...More

One perhaps can't moan too much about the museum at Broughty Castle considering it is free to get in. There is a fair bit to see over four floors, including a Broughty Ferry museum, an art gallery and an armoury, as well as a viewing...More
