Walked from Peebles (Janet's Brae) on a beautiful January day. Very well worth the effort for the stunning views. I was lucky that I didn't encounter any mountain bikers (maybe the snow and ice put them off!)

You can bring your own, other than the parking fee, its free.

There are separate waking trails you would be able to use for dog walking, some areas might require more caution where forest paths are shared between both bikes and walkers.

yes bikes shops or pebbles hydro will rent you appropriate bikes and the trails are great and many of them
