We are not a 'walking' couple but do like to have a stroll and take in the scenery & we also have a very active dog who will run every mile that we walk. Although the castle was closed we were still able to walk around the grounds and up to the "Bell Tower". Follow the blue markers to get... More

We just went a walk up here on New years day. The grounds are very well kept so it made for a lovely walk!

We have been here a few times. Always visit when we are in Scotland to see hubby's family. We like this castle better than Edinburgh, as there is so much more to see. Lots of furnished rooms open to the public and a nice gift shop as well. The cellar kitchen is my favorite room. Lovely gardens as well.

A very interesting location in some stunning grounds. While the caste is full of history and Interesting information, walking around the many gardens and grounds was wonderful and really enjoyable. An interesting castle and lovely grounds.

This is a family home, working in the tourist industry and surrounded by it's ancient past. An excellent day out in all weather, for all kinds of people... singles, couples, families, groups. There is no time limit and all are made very welcome. After we'd visited numerous castles we realised that this experience was the best of all. That's a... More

Found all aspects good. Enjoyed the friendliness, found it so much better than city-life due to great engagement.

I always figured that I'd visit Scotland one day, but as I love to travel, my list is long and it wasn't at the top of my list, that is until Downton Abbey came along. And, how glad am I that it did. While I had thought that my first stop would be Skye one day, DA pushed Inverary to... More

Beautiful location with a tour of the home of the Argyle Clan chief. Great displays and history and wonderful gardens to relax in.

We have visited Inverary on numerous occasions, but never taken the time to visit. Having done so on this occasion, we regretted not having been there before. Previously, the castle had been closed, I think, their opening hours over the year are more comprehensive now, but worth checking beforehand anyway. Parking not a problem. Inside the Castle is amazing, they... More

For though of you who love Downton Abbey, here is your chance to see one place where they filmed! It is the home of the Campbells who came here in 1220 and is still occupied by the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell! The castle has impeccable furnishings through generations of ancestors. The castle and gardens extend to... More
