A magnificent early Georgian mansion, designed by William Adam for the Earl of Fife. It is considered to be an Adam masterpiece and is one of the most important buildings in the North. The foundation stone was laid on the 11th June 1735 and the building was finished five years later, although it took over 100 years to complete the interior. Duff House is a jewel set in a stunning triangle of coast, river and parkland. There is a tea room and shop on ground-floor level, as well as temporary exhibitions by visiting artists and societies.

This place is really beautiful. The park around is stunning and the house and the art collection are definitely worth the trip.

What a beautiful Sight to behold. We never expected such a majestic House and Grounds. . Family History was right for us at Duff House.Staff were spot on with there talk's.The cafe and shop had everything we wanted. And a stroll to the Mausoleum and Ice-House was lovely.

Three of us (me, husband and 4 year old) had a marvellous time here. Historical houses are our thing and what makes Duff House special is that our daughter could drop down onto her tummy and sketch artefacts in the children's quiz as we visited each room. Things aren't roped off so - providing you don't touch anything - you... More

Great disabled access for my mother in law via a lift to all floors which is not usual for a stately home. Lovely cream tea and cullen skink enjoyed in the tea room. The property has been restored, by obviously skilled craftsmen, to a very high standard, rarely seen. The house is filled with wonderful pieces of furniture, paintings and... More

Our third Historic Scotland property visited over two days, again we had a wonderful welcome from ALL the staff and the added bonus here of a very nice lunch in the lovely little dining room. This is a very well and lovingly restored William Adam designed stately home with very good pictures from the National Gallery of Scotland all over... More

We had high expectations and this place didn't deliver. It's beautiful and I do recommend a visit as it makes a great day out with the kids. It was under construction during our visit and there wasn't a whole lot of explanation of the rooms. Disappointed that we weren't able to finish our tour as the bell chimed for closing.... More

Thank you for your review of Duff House. We are sorry to hear you did not receive an explanation of the rooms. Each room is fitted out with information bats on the works of art and furniture. There is also a 15 minute film giving a very detailed history of the House , the family and the renovation. Stewards are... More

My partner and I came here for some lunch and ended up paying for a ticket to venture the whole house. We had lunch in their tea room, I had an egg sandwich with tea while he had a scone and coffee both which were both delicious. My partner was amazed at how little it cost us both and ended... More
