A nice cathedral inside with a gothic feel. Situated on King Street best to get to this via bus or shopping centre parking. Worth a short visit.

If you are expecting a huge gothic pile, you will be disappointed. This is essentially an upgraded parish church, fairly small in size. However, there are some points of interest, such as the shields representing most of the US States, and the Eisenhower flag. The guy who was on duty was very pleasant and welcoming and it is well worth a look and if you have time contrasting it with St Nicholas or St Machar's in the old town.

this was very interesting if for no other reason than the history involved. The stain glass windows are incredible and definitely worth studying. Not much more to say: if you love history and church interiors, don't miss it. If you don't nothing I can say will sway you.

Went along to 8am service, no one greeting. Walked round, walked out - no one noticed. Pity, nice building.

St. Andrew's Cathedral, King Street, Aberdeen is one of the hidden architectural gems of Scotland (and indeed the UK). Sadly, too many don't realise the cathedral is there. Although not huge when compared to other cathedrals, what it lacks in size it makes up for in its sheer beauty.

The cathedral is long and narrow, beautifully white inside, with an heraldic ceiling in the north and south aisles, and in the Quire and Sanctuary. The visitor's eyes are drawn up the Nave to the beautiful East window and gilded baldacchino (canopy) over the High Altar.

St Andrew's Cathedral has an important place in the US Episcopalian heritage: Rev Samuel Seabury was ordained the USA's first anglican bishop in Aberdeen on 14th November, 1784. The present cathedral was enlarged and beautified by Aberdonian architect, Sir Ninian Comper in commemoration of that event.

St Andrew's Cathedral boasts a splendid musical heritage and currently maintains five choirs - including a traditional choir of Boys and Men (now the only Scottish cathedral to do so) who sing at four choral services each week. The cathedral also houses one of Scotland's finest pipe organs, presided over by the Cathedral's Organist and Master of the Choristers (of thirty years) Prof. Andrew Morrisson.

The Cathedral has a warm acoustic and hosts many concerts in the year. It is a bright, spacious and friendly building, well worth visiting.

However, the Cathedral - like many other places of worship - is showing signs of is age, and clearly needs restoration in many areas of the fabric. There is an extensive restoration and redevelopment plan.

St Andrew's Cathedral Aberdeen has much to offer the visitor: beautiful architecture, splendid music and liturgy, a good shop in the North West corner, a warm welcome: but most of all peace and tranquility just metres from one of this fine city's busiest roads.

I was privileged to be a boy Chorister here over thirty years ago. I have not visited for twenty years or so; but pushing open the West Doors and seeing the wonderful building stretching before me, made my heart leap at its beauty and simplicity. If you are in Aberdeen, please do go and this true gem - you will not be disappointed!

St Andrew's Cathedral is part of the Scottish Episcopal Church; it should not be confused with the much older St Machar's Cathedral (of the Church of Scotland - which is Presbyterian). St Andrew's Cathedral is a delightful Anglican cathedral - it was built in the 19th century and is one of the smaller cathedrals. St Andrew's Cathedral has close ties with the Episcopal Church in the USA - Samuel Seabury was consecrated in Aberdeen in 1784 as the first Anglican Bishop in the USA (though not actually within St Andrew's Cathedral, which had then not yet been built). Both St Andrew's Cathedral and St Machar's Cathedral will be of interest to anyone who loves cathedrals.

This is a very beautiful, small building which looks almost nothing like a cathedral!! The architecture is good but it should be a church.

Right out of the book of church design and none the worse for it. Another one of the massive number of religious buildings worth a look in Aberdeen. I wonder if they were all religious goody goodies or sinned so much they needed so many places for redemption?

A really pleasant visit in a main thoroughfare in Aberdeen. Designed by Sir Archibald Simpson and opened in 1817.
It is more of a parish church in size. Now in a much quieter area of Aberdeen.
