Tucked away down by the harbour mouth, Fittie is a glimpse of a way of life long gone. The old fishing village is lovingly maintained. It has a mixture of tall terraced houses, single story cottages and the quirky outhouses and gardens. We've taken visitors to Fittie several times and were lucky enough to be there once when the locals... More

Fittie is the place to go if you want to get a sense of Aberdeen's historical relationship with the sea. It's also a lovely place to visit with direct access to the beach and a playground for the younger members of our group. A busy place on a sunny day there is the opportunity to get a sense of the... Not sure if we were underwhelmed because we had to walk to it and the walk along the harbour wasn't pleasant, but felt it wasn't worth the visit

Footdee (Fitee) is a little gem of a place to stroll through right at the end of Aberdeen Beach near the harbour. It has historical interest as well as being very pretty with it's tiny houses snuggled around the squares. The houses have their backs to the sea to protect them from the ferocious North sea. The gardens have sheds... More

Travel back in time and imagine the families of those who worked the herring boats in the adjacent dock living in these houses. Many of the houses have had modern make overs but the the majority look as they did a century ago. Our visit was on a cold damp midweek day so few visitors about which added the opportunity... More

The houses were built on the site of the first settlement of dwellers at the mouth of the river Dee hundreds of years ago. These houses a so well cared for and are such a close community. A beautiful place

This is part of old Aberdeen- fishing community so that aspect of this area is interesting. The architecture still shows the original houses and church. Grid outlay so wandering is easy to do. Do go in via the main entrance and then you can leave and go along the esplanade. It's a shame that amid the original buildings some people... More

Lovely little stroll around this very well-kept, colourful little village of cottages at the far end of the sea front - really worth a visit!

We had an evening family walk in this place. And it was amazing. We felt like in fifties. Old yards with clothes ropes. Each house is decorated in its own special style, among this decor there are very talented works. Most of all we were amazed that people still live here. Therefore, do not treat this quarter as a normal tourist... More
