Picturesque and tranquil

A lovely place to walk alongside on a sunny evening. Felt very calm and relaxed after spending a few hours by the river watching the world go by

The River Foyle played a very important role in the defence of the Atlantic in WW2.Many of the allied navies used the Foyle as their base and its role cannot be underestimated.Futher information on the role played can be found in the Tower Museum I Guildhall Square.

I was amazed at how wide this river is. There is also a lot of history of smuggling, escapes etc..Best viewed from the Peace Bridge

You can't mention this scenic river without discussing the quay. A beautiful walk way follows the River Foyle on the city side for quite some distance. The walk way is well adorned with flowers and planters maintained by the Derry City Council. This is a popular attraction for a morning/afternoon walk, mother's pushing baby carriages, joggers and cyclists.

Slow moving, rather sedentary river that passes by the city. Historically, providing transportation. The peace bridge provides nice views of the city.

Sorry but I do not see any beauty about the Foyle, but I am willing to be persuaded if anyone can point out the magic of what looks like pretty dirty water or am I missing something ?

A river running through the city. Nothing much happens. You can fish I suppose or take a walk along the quay. Some nice scenery and a few nice photo ops.

The River Foyle is a wide river flowing through the heart of Derry and has lovely walks along the side to take in the nature and beauty of the river. There are a lot of benches along it in parts to just sit back and relax and enjoy the world pass by on the Foyle.

somehow rivers always tends to attract me. I enjoyed the walk along the river, soaking in the sun and sifting through the charms of Derry/Londonderry. I guess it signifies a divide.
